NSA Whistleblower Speaks Out on Verizon, PRISM, and the Utah Data Center
Libertas Institute ^ | June 7, 2013 | William Binney (interview)

Posted on 06/07/2013 9:09:15 PM PDT by Texas Fossil

Editor’s note: The following is a lightly-edited transcription of an interview with William Binney, a former employee with the NSA who after over 30 years with the agency quit and became a whistleblower, bringing to light many of their illegal activities and mass surveillance of American citizens.

Libertas Institute: Please describe your work experience with the NSA.

William Binney: For approximately 28 years, I was primarily involved in breaking codes and dealing with ciphers and data systems and solving those, and working with data, trying to do threat assessment with all of that data that we had.

After a while, I became the Technical Director of the World Geopolitical and Military Analysis Reporting Group. What that meant was that I had to expand my thinking around the world, and the major problem was data with the web and everything. That’s when I started designing programs to handle that information and be able to select out what was important and what wasn’t.

Then I started implementing those programs, and NSA took those programs and started to direct in domestic data. When they did that, that’s when I left. I couldn’t be a party to that.

I think his objection was to the unconstitutional targeting of American citizens.

Of course it was. But there would be no need for the volume of data that the Utah Data Center represents unless the intent was to capture and store EVERYTHING.

As far as 'stopping terrorism' the goons at NSA didn't catch the Boston Bombers - even with the Russians pleading with them numerous times to take a look at the two. They missed Fort Hood too. Seems all the 'terrorists' they catch are secret.

They didn't get the DC Sniper either. American citizens did. The national militia is the perfect means to deal with terrorism. Just put up a bounty on every terrorist or illegal with stiff penalties for false arrest and watch it happen. I just wish there was a politician with the intelligence and guts to say it.

And yeah, I'm starting to think they're targeting democrats too.

I don't think so. Socialism is in the interest of the extremely wealthy, because the politicians come to them to attain office or borrow money.

Good question, legally all RFP, RFQ type stuff must be posted, but I wasn’t born last night nor do I think that you were.

I know there is classified type of contractual stuff but not in those circles for a while, mainly just hardware.

God only knows what goes on behind those doors, uncertain if I want to know.

While I was getting worked up a couple of days ago, my daughter said, “Dad, you’re on the Struggle Bus.”

I got off at the next stop.....

The dangerous stuff isn't phone sex - unless it's used to go after high level political opposition or military leaders - leaders like Petraeus. The dangerous stuff is connecting people using sophisticated computer programs ... and the ability to crash the world's economies.

I have a washing machine than can diagnose itself and call in it’s ‘problem’...

Recently it is certainly a “brave new world”. (barf)

It is defiantly an insane world.

I would do a thread of my own on this story. However, this was a report published by ABC News in October 9, 2008. It implicates the Bush Administration’s NSA. If the Obama Syndicate is true to form, this type of activity may still be happening. It questions whether any kind of safeguards to protect against it have ever been put in place. See the original piece from ABC:

I was just going to post your link myself. Yes, I do think those in the insular world of Washington DC think they are omnipotent and can continue with their Marxist coup of Constitutional America. However, because of their isolation, they overestimate their power and underestimate the power of the citizen when they see government off its rails. We will have to pick up the pieces like we do any train wreck and rebuild the rails stronger.

Smart machines make you wonder what their inventor’s true agenda is.

I don’t wonder what the agenda is.

Look up IPv6. They can address every single lightbulb on the planet with that one.

I’m sure with all these scandals and malice aforethought in all the ABC agencies that the FDA stands alone as a bastion of integrity and honesty.

I suspect the true agenda was to make it easier to repair washing machines. The fact that NSA can tie into any ‘smart’ item in a home or car was probably one of the last things designers thought of... if it was thought of at all.

I know about the switch from IPv4 to IPv6

I had to buy a new router because my local ISP made the switch. They did not want to simply tell me that they had changed, but I figured it out.

There is a lot more involved with IPv6 than just controlling devices. There is a wireless security upgrade (if you want to call it that) and some nutty stuff that caused me grief with my wife’s Windows 7 machine. I could not tell a difference on my Linux Machines.

And yes, I know some of the agenda for IPv6.

And if he were a white Republican president he would have already been impeached years ago.

“Obama’s big data team move into consulting”

3 June 2013 | By Simon Miller

“US — Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt is bankrolling an analytics firm borne out of President Obama’s re-election campaign.”

http://www.research-live.com/news/analytics/obamas-big-data-team-move-into-consulting/4009855.article

Note date: June 3.

0bama (originally?) met with Schmidt in June of 2008. I remember that specifically because I thought it sounded like something was up then. 0bama has constantly acted confident about lots of things. Maybe he only reads about what was pre-arranged, acting as though it ‘might be.’

Some time before the 0bamacare decision, I saw a news report of Holder going up the steps of SCOTUS to meet with John Roberts, carrying folders, like Holder always does. I thought it inappropriate to be meeting with the Chief Justice.

Carry,

They didn’t ‘miss’ anything. That info is funneled to handlers of the MB in the WH, or so I believe. They are the intercepts and censors/enablers.

No doubt, but I also suspect that their ability to hog-tie local law-enforcement is somewhat limited.

In dealing with terrorism, there is no substitute for an armed, trained, aware, and motivated citizenry.

There is a 200+ page report on a certain voting machine written by the office of Indiana SoS decertifying a particular voting machine. My understanding is this machine was used in the purple states

We need to get our hands on that report and make it public. Plying on? You betcha!
