Editors note: The following is a lightly-edited transcription of an interview with William Binney, a former employee with the NSA who after over 30 years with the agency quit and became a whistleblower, bringing to light many of their illegal activities and mass surveillance of American citizens.
Libertas Institute: Please describe your work experience with the NSA.
William Binney: For approximately 28 years, I was primarily involved in breaking codes and dealing with ciphers and data systems and solving those, and working with data, trying to do threat assessment with all of that data that we had.
After a while, I became the Technical Director of the World Geopolitical and Military Analysis Reporting Group. What that meant was that I had to expand my thinking around the world, and the major problem was data with the web and everything. Thats when I started designing programs to handle that information and be able to select out what was important and what wasnt.
Then I started implementing those programs, and NSA took those programs and started to direct in domestic data. When they did that, thats when I left. I couldnt be a party to that.

This sounds credible to me.
Tell me what you think.
It’s more plausible than anything coming out of DC about it.
Yep, and very bad MOJO.
This will meet great resistance against turning over the rocks to daylight.
I have said for years that when the “right people” want the rock hiding Obozo past uncovered it will happen.
Not sure now.
The NSA Is Lying: U.S. Government Has Copies of Most of Your Emails Says NSA Whistleblower
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfS2Op9l3nk
DemocracyNow.org - National Security Agency whistleblower William Binney reveals he believes domestic surveillance has become more expansive under President Obama than President George W. Bush. He estimates the NSA has assembled 20 trillion transactions phone calls, emails and other forms of data from Americans. This likely includes copies of almost all of the emails sent and received from most people living in the United States. Binney talks about Section 215 of the USA PATRIOT Act and challenges NSA Director Keith Alexanders assertion that the NSA is not intercepting information about U.S. citizens.
Thanks for link. It is amazing that leftist like those on Democracy Now is also alarmed at where we are.
“intercepting”
That is the key word, he is playing “legal weasel word” games.
Intercept does not mean that they do not have copies of the emails and phone conversations. It certainly does.
Binney (former Nat’l Security agent) and J Kirk Wiebe (former Nat’l Security agent) were on with Megyn Kelly-—America Live) today (Friday - about an hour into program). Fox may have a video on their website).
Kelly introduced them both as whistleblowers.
Just keeps getting worse. They would have started impeachment hearing by now if the President was a Republican.

I worked at the farm late today and did not watch TV this evening. Sounds like this is taking a life of it’s own.
About time.
agreed
It is a time for Truth.
Opening Pandora’s Box? We shall see.
“Sounds like this is taking a life of its own.”
It does.
Here’s the video:
I was just on the Mother Jones web site. (I think I’ve only been on that site one other time.) However, I followed a link from Drudge to the Mother Jones site about the Justice Dept fighting the release of the “secret court” finding the surveillance unconstitutional.
The interesting thing, besides the fact there is a “secret court,” were the comments.
Most of the posters are angry over the NSA issue and are blaming Obama. A LOT of the comments from the posters were stating this is not a Democrat or a Republican issue, it is an American issue that needs to be confronted together, and instead of calling it a right vs. left, conservative vs liberal issue, it should be addressed and attacked as a constitutional issue.
One poster stated it would scare the (fill in the blank) out of the politicians in Washington, if the conservatives and the liberals actually came together and stood against them over this issue.
I was a little amazed by the anger being vented there.
When I was younger, back in high school,we played a board game called “Risk”. You would amass armies and make a run on the planet.
obama , et al is doing just that. IMHO, they pulled the trigger just a little too quick. Patriots will have another day in the sun before all is fulfilled.
We know how the Book ends.
very confusing when you are forced to agree with algore and disagree with some gop senators and congressmen.. something weird is afoot.
"Seriously dangerous times ahead. Deadly times. War, and censorship under the color of authority and under the pretext of of national security"
Yes. Exactly. Obozo and his master looses.
