A Washington IRS attorney named Carter Hull closely oversaw the targeting of conservative nonprofit groups and suggested questions that IRS employees could ask of conservative and Tea Party groups applying for tax-exempt nonprofit status, according to interviews that two IRS employees gave with congressional investigators.
I was essentially a front person, because I had no autonomy or no authority to act on [applications] without Carter Hulls influence or input, said Elizabeth Hofacre, an employee of the Cincinnati IRS office, according to a new report in the Wall Street Journal.
Hofacres office, which oversaw tax-exempt applications, reportedly requested help from the agencys Exempt Organizations Technical unit in Washington, D.C. in 2010 to deal with an influx of new applications from Tea Party groups.

Carter Hull is about to have a very bad day.
But will probably end up with a promotion
Will be named to POTUS General Counsel so he can exert Executive Privelege to prevent any questioning on his role and who directed him.
“At the conclusion of that investigation, Frank Church, the Democratic senator from Idaho who chaired the investigative committee, warned: “The NSA’s capability at any time could be turned around on the American people, and no American would have any privacy left, such is the capability to monitor everything: telephone conversations, telegrams, it doesn’t matter.”
Don’t forget Dick Durbin.
He signed that letter to the Federal Election Commission at the very time he was running for his seat.
More interesting is that the letter was written to Lerner.
So all of this could have grown from that seed.
Hull is the link in DC, but who directed him? IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman’s 150+ meetings in the White House including meetings with Obama campaign chief, Stephanie Cutter. would make only sense if the White House were orchestrating these partisan attacks on conservative groups.
Have you called your senators, representatives, the speaker's office?
If so, good on you....if not, LET US do some shouting.
Every few day’z, I write and call each office. I urge a special investigator, remind them they are elected servants of the people.
The exception is Ted Cruz. I call his office and thank him for his awesome work up in D.C..
Both the Rino insiders and the criminals in the White House are to blame.
But worst of all is we are to blame for voting for the trash we have in our elected offices.
FYI C-Span3 is carrying the IRS hearing
>>But worst of all is we are to blame for voting for the trash we have in our elected offices.<<
TED CRUZ....besides Ronald Reagan, the best vote I’ve ever cast.
they are starting to name names
I don’t think you meant to write “the next chief justice” if Holder resigns.
Attorney General, head of the Department of Justice, is the position.
However, that couldn’t happen, simply because Carter Hull could not get confirmed by the Senate (takes 60 votes) if Obama were to act that stupidly.
People who can walk into high positions who are worse replacements than their predecessors while Obama smirks at America which can’t stop it, can only do that when the position is not subject to Senate confirmation, such as Susan Rice as his National Security Advisor.
This is Obama's Acorn versus the Tea Party.
All they had to do was suppress efficiency of these groups while favoring the DNC groups. DNC groups operate tax free, Tea Party groups are taxed.
Liberal Fascists
Mr. Hull will be invited to a meeting in Fort Marcy Park...
I think you’re right.
Tell me, you don’t think McCain et al knew about this IRS nonsense? These are masters of the Senate cloak rooms. You don’t think, just to add on, they knew of the absurd things going on with the housing mortgage business of the Clinton era?
Why couldn’t the elected pubs have launched a PR war BEFORE the election to shine a spotlight on this? Couldn’t they have held a press conference, say they are inundated with reports of IRS abuse to Tea parties?
They didn’t even try.
Our side hates us more than the other side.
Whoops ~ I think the charge was IRS was delaying full start-up for TEAParty groups ~ so, who did they actually shut down?
Carter Hull is merely an ‘expert’ at IRS in the division that deals with making these rulings. I doubt the top dogs had any idea he even existed. Be interesting if they did, but that’s a huge agency!
To nail people you need to cite the statutory support for the crime, establish that it occurred and demonstrate that a specific person did it.
That's not always an easy job, particularly in a case where normal, lawful behavior is difficult to differentiate from abnormal, unlawful behavior.
