I’m actually hoping we get some of it here in central TX—at least the rain part. We are parched here. My town has had us on water restrictions for months, and I heard today they will raise it from a level 1 (You can only water one day a wk,) to a level 2, you can only water 1 day every other week.
Lake Travis is very low, too.
Yeah, I saw some Stage 2 signs around last week. We’ve had rain but still dry.
Gulf warms faster than the Atlantic. Season started June 1.
They named this one just as soon as they possibly could.
top wind (sustained) expected to be 45 MPH.
Due to go over us Friday 6 AM. It’ll be a bothersome 12 hour rain event all together.
We have plenty of the real stuff on hand ... and beer.
I just hope the moisture doesn’t fuel tornados
Well, I think we can safely say that nobody hopes they spawn tornados!
The Year of the Snake! Chinese Astrology says its going to be a bad year for storms, earthquakes and tornadoes! If you live in Texas watch out—Storms to hit and Obama to crush your spirit of independence. A double wammie!
I wondered where all this damn rain came from today.
Tornadoes in tropical storms are created by sheer (different wind directions at different altitudes), not moisture per se. They are comparatively harmless. The big tornadoes in the plains come from the moisture, but only as the first ingredient along with warmth, causing convection. No tornadoes will form just from that. The second ingredient is dry air and that has to punch into the storm in the mid levels. The third ingredient is the jet stream or upper low circulations to help push the dry air into the storms.
