In an interview on Hugh Hewitts radio show on Tuesday night, Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio indicated that he would not support the Gang of Eight immigration bill he had helped author unless it is changed.
Earlier in the day, Rubio had said that immigration reform was still short of the 60 votes it needs to pass the Senate.

9YearLurker indicates the same.
I've said this before. He is who he is. That would be he's hispanic first and a US citizen second. I think we should give him a chance to put his priorities straight, especially since his turning against the bill just might stop it from passing.
Looks as if nobody actually wants this bill. Rubio’s talking it down from the (ahem) right, and various Dems from the Lenin-Left. Empty posturing for all?
Rubio has been deceived by himself.
I believe your scenario will definitely happen, and the American people will never understand what was done.
I have seen nothing to indicate that Boehner will lift a finger to try and stop it from coming to a vote in the Hiuse despite overwhelming Republidan opposition (at least publicly) to this bill. If it passes the Senate I believe it will pass the House and in committee the Senate bill with citizenship for illegals will become the law.
You can be sure that McC will figure out a way to help the liberals despite occasional “conservative” rhetoric. He is after all a self-styled “John Sherman Cooper Republican”, and that is NOT “conservative” at all.
Rubio is a complete dufus.
It only needs 50 votes because McConnell (the turncoat) has indicated he is not going to force Cloture. The only way we can force 60 votes is for several of the Senators (Cruz, Paul) to take the floor and refuse to relinquish it until there is a cloture vote.
We need to get Senators to stand up for American and not to bow to Mexico. At last count there were 2 of them.
Chris37 also wishes he hadn’t typoed his own name :D
Rubio is selling thinking conservatives down the river because he has calculated he doesn’t need our votes anymore. Rubio thinks he can keep some of his supporters while adding a bunch of American Idol mush brained types to his new power base.
Rubio only used conservatives to get inside the beltway. He has the power of incumbency now and doesn’t need us anymore.
Rubio helped make this bill and voted for it in committee. Then he says
he will vote against it? Sounds like Kerry’s I voted for it before I voted
against it shuffle.
Rubio is finished as a Presidential Candidate.
Negative. All his chances are spent. He’ll need my vote too, and he will not be getting it.
All it takes is for one senator to filibuster and insist on a cloture vote.
Pluck you Rubio, and the lizard you rode in on.
It only needs 50 votes because McConnell (the turncoat) has indicated he is not going to force Cloture.
The bill will pass the Senate. I don’t doubt McConnell has stabbed us in the back and they already have a deal to pass it.
I think this withdrawing support of the bill right now is a little bit of an FU to Reid from McConnell. McConnell wants to force all the vulnerable Dems to vote for the bill. Reid wants to get as many GOP votes as he can so can release some of the Dems up for reelection.
It’s totally meaningless as far as passage because what matters is the final bill.
Rubio, what a disappointment you turned out to be.
Too bad... you have lied to me every day since you started this amnesty crap rubio... that is why you hold no sway with me and why I will donate to any republican that challenges you.
LLS
Marco was warned about playing ball with Chuckie Schumer when all this crap started, it’s all smoke and mirrors planned to keep the border wide open.
True. In practice, without the support of the Minority Leader it is more likely to fail. That is a point that Levin addressed and I think he is correct, recent filibusters notwithstanding.
Its these stupid games these turncoats play. Their loyalty is not to the Constitution or the American people. They are only loyal to themselves and the power they can grab by stabbing America in the back. McConnell is not fit to be a men's room janitor, much less a Senator from a great state like Kentucky.
A pox on both their houses.
