Good morning fellow Freepers. I have been a longtime member and mostly lurk around, reading the excellent content posted by my fellow conservatives. I am making a rare exception because of something that happened to my Dad about 10 minutes ago.
He received a call from Paypal. You know, the online money transfer company that basically rode the back of eBay to become the company that it is today. They called and asked him about a series of transactions that were made earlier this year. They were actually for some spare scopes he had sold via GunBroker.com. However, the customer service representative was very persistent in asking what these transactions were for. My Dad told them it was none of their business. They kept hounding him and harassing him trying to get him to divulge the exact contents of the transaction. Dad was having none of it. They finally concluded the call stating that it is Paypal policy that you cannot use their services for the sale or transfer of firearms or ammunition.
FUPP!
Ping!
+1 here.
I swore off Paypal sometime ago. The gun issue is reason enough but they also demand to be allowed to link to my checking account which I absolutely refuse. Their customer service is nonexistant at best.
You can’t buy anything on ebay without running it through them so I simply don’t buy from ebay unless I find a vendor who will circumvent paypal.
Yeah I’ve used PayPal for GunBroker transactions before & this issue came up. Libtards. I avoid them now & always encourage others to do so.
Sad state of affairs. Their company so they can make their own rules. If you have some spare cash (I know, not funny) we can still start up our own bank. Second Amendment Republic Bank. Cater to firearms buyers and sellers. Think the IRS and FEC would take a close look? LOL!
Well, I will be closing that account if that’s their policy.
You can refuse them access to your bank account if you are only purchasing items.
They try to make it appear that you must give them access; if you simply refuse to do so, you get an account you can use with a credit card. Each time you use it they will attempt to bluff you into giving them access to your bank account.
Just do not do it.
We dont allow PayPal members to buy or sell any kind of firearm, whether its in working order or not. The same goes for certain firearm parts and ammunition.

Well known information by those of us that use Gunbroker and Auctionarms
Any alternatives out there? I do not have any capital but someone could make some serious money with a strong alternative to Paypal, couldn’t they?

Not so. I have an account that is not linked to a bank account.
I enjoy using PayPal for gun- and shooting-related exchanges. I know that I have violated their policy on more than one occasion. It delights me to use their service, against their policy, to advance the shooting sports.
You got a call? When my account got hacked I couldn’t get through to a live person. Dumped that piece of shit company pronto.
Funny if a company tried to ignore “civil rights,” they would be sued. Constitutional rights? We are told private entities can ignore them. Does this make any sense?
