Conservatives need to be intelligent shoppers. Not only do we need to find the best deals to make our dollars go further, we also need to use our marketplace power to make sure that companies that fight against conservatism and our rights do not receive the benefits of our patronage.
There is one big store we should ignore right now. This is one store that conservatives should not shop at.
What is that store and why should we not shop there?
The store is Staples office supplies.
Yes, that big red, office supply big box store that is pretty ubiquitous.
Why should conservatives not shop there?
From Fox News:
A small Nebraska gun shop has decided to buy its ink pens and post-it notes somewhere else after they said Staples rejected their entry into a marketing contest because they are in the firearms business.
Travis Vonseggern and Bill Jackson own Maple Creek Gunsmithing in Fremont, Neb. The store offers gunsmithing, guns, ammo, and firearms training.
They recently entered the Staples PUSH It Forward Contest hoping to win a $50,000 marketing campaign for their small business. But a few days later, the men received a rejection email:
Were sorry, but your small business entry into the Staples PUSH It Forward Contest has been rejected for the following reason(s): Entry contains content that promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing); promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous; promotes any particular political agenda or message; is obscene or offensive; or endorses any form of hate or hate group.
The email also stated that Staples reserves the right to reject any entry that they deem is not in accordance with the official rules.
Lets see, Staples says gun shops are the equivalent of hate groups. It says shops that support a right specifically enumerated in the Bill of Rights is on par with drug dealers or obscenity.
Staples reaction is obscene.
Spending money at Staples is obscene.
The left has been trying to demonize both guns, gun owners and businesses that support gun ownership. In 1995, Eric Holder said it himself that the left must brainwash Americans about guns.
The demonization of guns, gun owners and gun shops has gone too far.
If Staples wants to make war on Real Americans then Real Americans can make war on Staples. Time to head down the road to Office Depot or OfficeMax.
Staples can head to the dustbin of history.
They did respond that the contest was already underway and could not be changed. However they will review their policies and possibly change them.
I replied they should go public with an apology to the gun shop and a promise to fix the policy. I have not received any reply to that.
Funny thing is, in the rules themselves, they say that they *can* change the rules at any time for any reason.
According to the gun shop, Staples has reversed itself.
We use 11x17 Hammermill 28# papers for our catalogs. Many companies charge as much for delivery as the goods themselves.
1) Check the entry form small print. If it lists guns/firearms, well, they got you. If not, threaten them with a lawsuit. Oh, and tell them their "hate or hate group" phrase is political, open to anyone's interpretation, and offensive to the free speech rights of most Americans.
2) See if they have accepted applications from any beer or wine businesses or anything a conservative might consider a "hate group" (Planned Parenthood, etc.) and shove that in their face.
Really? I can’t find a story about that.
I think I will report this to the person who was communicating with me and see if she has any comment. Thank you for posting this.
The Constitution is explicit.
I can’t really join the withdrawal from Staples. They had a big store for a few years but it didn’t make it. Staples went away.
We heard you! At Staples, we value all of our customers and appreciate your feedback. We now realize the rules of our Push It Forward contest were too restrictive and kept out legitimate businesses. Unfortunately, we cant change the rules once the contest is underway. But we will revise our rules to make sure future contests are more inclusive and reflect our commitment to helping all small businesses.

Ive been using discountofficeitems.com for all office suppoles. Excellent prices and service. Far better than Staples. Staples has always been a mediocre store and their prices are not competitive.
In other words when you get caught, you will pull the Progressive trick of promising to fix it next time .... some time in the future, which you will conveniently forget and start the cycle over again.... seen it before with the communists.
“According to the gun shop, Staples has reversed itself.”
I’m sure Staples herd from a lot of us. I’m glad to hear of a reversal.

Staples shares in the blame for making those attacks possible.
Their rules would prohibit them from entering their own contests!
Thanks! I just ordered from them.

Let us know how that works please.
I’ll be shopping at OfficeMax instead. We do need to stop subsidizing companies that do not share our views.
Wasn’t Staples one of the companies Romney had some involvement in?
Another pencil 'stickee' here. Truth be told, I deserved it at the time :-)
