I have already notified Staples that as a gun owner I will no longer use their services (to the tune of about $500 - $750 annually).

They did respond that the contest was already underway and could not be changed. However they will review their policies and possibly change them.

I replied they should go public with an apology to the gun shop and a promise to fix the policy. I have not received any reply to that.

Funny thing is, in the rules themselves, they say that they *can* change the rules at any time for any reason.

I too have notified Staples about suspending my patronage. My annual purchases were about half of yours.
