Only Nixon Harmed a Free Press More
New York Times ^ | James C. Goodale

Posted on 05/28/2013 11:10:24 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The search warrant filed to investigate the Fox News reporter James Rosen proved as many had suspected: President Obama wants to make it a crime for a reporter to talk to a leaker. It is a further example of how President Obama will surely pass President Richard Nixon as the worst president ever on issues of national security and press freedom.

The government's subpoena of The Associated Press's phone records was bad enough. But the disclosure of the search warrant in the Rosen case shows President Obama has delved into territory never before reached by previous presidents.

The Justice Department obtained Rosen’s e-mail by using a search warrant in which it alleged that Rosen was a co-conspirator with a government adviser named Stephen Kim.

Until President Obama came into office, no one thought talking or e-mailing was not protected by the First Amendment.

How did Nixon harm the free press? He made them stronger.

I think Obama was quite happy to have the AP and Fox News wire tap stories spring at this time. How better to fire a warning shot across the bow of those in the government who might leak information on the Benghazi or IRS scandals.

Wow. Even in all that he’s wiggling and squirming to give Obama a pass.

Nixon did nothing to harm the free press. Leave him out of this Obama story which is about a lib press kissing his ass. When did the lib press ever kiss Richard Nixon’s ass? They were an oppositional press while with Obama they are his Pravda press

Yeah, really. They’ve been out of control ever since and taking this country down with them... as the functioning propaganda arm of the Socialist-Democrat party.

NIXON vs OBAMA

Nixon engaged in espionage and burglary on a few individuals who were operating a call girl (prostitution) ring for the DNC. This is ALL “Watergate” was in the end, as proven in numerous court cases after the fact. Woodward and Bernstein were shown to have lied repeatedly about a number of things, as did John Dean, who did it under oath. Who did they get? Liddy. They got Liddy for BURGLARY and gave him 25 years. (He refused to take the oath, and therefore could not testify.) Nixon as we know resigned, he was not impeached (like Clinton, who LIED UNDER OATH.)

WATERGATE WAS NOTHING COMPARED TO THIS - DO NOT LET THEM MAKE THE COMPARISON WITHOUT CHALLENGING THEM !!

Bush was better for a Free Press than Obama says the NY Times.

This is quite an unique way for the Lame Stream Media to blame shift: Zer0 did it because Nixon did worse. Nixon gets the blame. The Lame Stream Media needs to have its head examined.

At this point I almost look forward to when Obama starts imprisoning journalists. I wonder how they’d spin that...?

The very thought of Nixon as a bain to the US Press is patently ludicrous. NEVER was this press more vicious, tenacious and effective. They brought down a US President over simple actions that have paled in comparison to what Clinton and Obama have done.

They, the Press, are still tenacious and vicious, but their edge has been dulled by a free (up until now) internet and free thinking people who can now express their thoughts to a multitude of others.
