Batten down the hatches and wait for the storm to clear.
Thats the advice veteran Washington Democrats are urging on a White House that has been embattled for a full two weeks by the triad of controversies revolving around the IRS, Benghazi and the Justice Departments seizure of reporters phone records. No-one expects the pressure to let up anytime soon.
There is blood in the water and the sharks are circling, said Jim Manley, who spent years as the top communications aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) before moving on to a career at a lobbying firm.
The last thing the White House needs to do is to make any unnecessary quick moves by making dramatic personnel changes, for example.
Mike McCurry, who labored as White House Press Secretary for President Bill Clinton during the feverish early days of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, opted for a different marine metaphor.
The temptation, when you have some variety of these feeding frenzies, is only to worry about the churning water and not the longer-term horizon, he said. The critical thing is to not lose sight of the larger agenda that the president got elected to execute.
The advice from the likes of Manley and McCurry is finding a receptive audience at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. McCurry recently spoke with White House chief of staff Denis McDonough, and came away impressed with the discipline McDonough was instilling in the rest of the staff.
McDonough, as has been widely reported, wants to cap at 10 percent the amount of White House time that gets spent responding to the furors of the moment rather than advancing the presidents broader agenda.

If everything you say is a lie no wonder.
IMO, nothing will happen to him or Holder.
and under the cover of these scandals , Kerry is going around the world trying to buy off terrorists with billions of borrowed dollars

Mike...... the problem is that there is no longer a long term agenda. It is gone.
Where are the NYT, the Washington Post, the TV networks decrying this as “stonewalling”? Oh, that’s right....that terminology is used only to condemn Republican presidents. When Clinton and Obama do it, it’s “smart politics.”
The current lapdog press is disgraceful.
1. There are four dead people due to Benghazi. That will not go away.
2. Everyone and I mean everyone hates and fears the IRS.They have been due for a major comeupance for a long time and people will insist on seeing that. Besides what congressperson, even a DemocRAT will stand up and defend the IRS?
But the scandal by the DOJ on the press is the one that will give the other two legs.
All of a sudden there is a reason for the press to do their jobs, (for the first time in four years).
Now, when Calvin Coolidge was president, he did very little -- which was exactly the right thing to do: the country prospered. Today, the situation is different. What we need is an active government that is willing to dismantle itself. What Obama will do is merely allow the ship of state to drift where it will -- and in the age of $1T deficits, Obamacare, and rising powers around the world, a policy of "drift and consult with my attorneys" is going to hurt us badly.

Does this mean the Fast & Furious conspiracy never happened? Eric "the Red" Holder succeded in sweeping it under the rug?
Here's what I'm very sure of: what we haven't seen yet will make what we have seen look like a small child's spouting prohibited words. The worst is yet to come.
“The last thing the White House needs to do is to make any unnecessary quick moves by making dramatic personnel changes, for example.
IMHO if BO truly was oblivious and detached from all these scandals, wouldnt he be working night and day to clean his house? He would be demanding information, hiring and firing, reorganizing, expediting, apologizing. . .
Big mistake. Does Obama's team want to be known as 'All the President's Men'? They need to get real ... and quick.
Translation: Stonewall for all you're worth.
Agreed...the AP is still talking about “alleged controversies”. They will not use the word “scandal”. Why is that do you suppose?
Thank goodness the GOP has the House...had the Dems controlled both houses none of this would have been uncovered.
Common sense would expect that the I.R.S. be neutered . . .
A few million hollow point bullets say otherwise.
Hillary sure made herself scarce.
I think she’s refreshing her face.
At some point Fast and Furious willb e back, too. It has not gone away.
