Shulman never looked into IRS targeting, though 132 congressmen contacted him [VIDEO]

Even though 132 members of Congress sent former Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Douglas Shulman letters about the IRS targeting of conservative groups, Shulman reiterated Wednesday that he did not have the full story until the inspector general’s report came out.

“In the two years that this targeting was taking place, did any member of Congress contact you? Write you? About this particular subject? Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan asked during a House Oversight hearing. “Did you get letters from Congress?”

“Yes,” Shulman replied.

Jordan explained that based on documents from the IRS, 132 different members of Congress contacted Shulman over the two year period the IRS was targeting conservative groups about the tax exemption issue.

Jordan pointed out to Shulman that there had been 42 news stories about potential IRS targeting in that two-year timeframe as well.

“So here is what everyone wants to know: You’ve got 132 members of the United States Congress contacting you about this issue, 42 news stories about this issue in the time period in question, and you never checked it out. You never researched it. I mean, are you sure you’re being square with us today, Mr. Shulman?”

“I am absolutely telling you the truth today,” Shulman said.

Jordan also delved into the number of times Shulman visited the White House.

and the only one of the 118+ visits to the White House over 2 years the first one that came to mind was the Easter Egg Roll.

There is no doubt that the irs was used for strongarm intimidation of the administration’s enemies.
People should be kicked out of office and go to jail. But that will never happen.

Not just the IRS.

The BATF visited a family’s machine shop looking for firearm parts following the mother’s application for 501c4 exempt status for a TTV organization.
Then OSHA showed up and fined them $25k for “improper safety glasses”.

These departments don’t have ESP. These harassments are coordinated by those above them.

Too bad we can’t ask George Bush why he appointed such a know-nothing ass hat as Schulman. Obviously, he saw nothing wrong with the IRS harassing patriot grandmothers and grandfathers.

Does anyone recall if Shulman was asked about the interal IRS investigation that’s was completed in April or May of 2012 and reached the same conclusions as the Inspector General’s report a year later.

Surely Shulman would have seen and read this internal report.

Was he challenged on this point?

He’s counting the day until his new cushy, seven figure gig at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac or some other landing pad the democrats created with tax payer dollars.

OJ did it better: "I am absolutely, 100 percent not guilty."

Contacted by 132 members of Congress. Goes to White House 118 times. Does nothing. In my former line of work this was known as a “clue.”

Don’t forget the Flag@whitehouse.gov line from 2009...

Please remember to bring up this article from the 2009 era. This might be important to the IRS scandal. The White House snitch line. It’s not active today but its records need to be looked at for a reason the IRS went after the Tea party.

http://voices.yahoo.com/flagwhitehousegov-snitch-line-3984140.html

This should be the first item on the subpoena list to the White House

Had a democrat been asking these same questions, the dem would follow up with...were you lying then or are you lying now.

Maybe it is just me, but it seems with a few exceptions, republican questioners are very passive.

I heard it that way, too. I was disappointed that his questioner at the time didn't pick up on it.

You’re right. Conservatives are being unnecessarily generous.

They couldn’t ever expect as much consideration themselves, yet feel some crying need to handle these people like they’re glass.

Was he challenged on this point?

He was challenged multiple times but kept deferring to the IG report that he was supposedly waiting for.

No one on the panel yesterday appeared to find his answers credible in any way, especially when it was revealed that he received letters from 132 Congressmen during which there were 42 news stories about this while he was visiting ObamaCare Central at the White House 118+ times for their egg rolls.

And this is the head of the IRS retiring with a huge pension. Multiply him by 10,000 and it explains the federal bureaucracy.

132 Congressman call you, and you don’t know there’s a problem.

Put the tube of glue down, and back away from the table!

Exactly. These bolsheviks termites have tunnelled through every element of government. They have communications channels that run ouside of government - through unions like SEIU, IBEW, etc and fake media like Politico and virtually every "foundation" in the country. They are even tied together - and have been since the 19th century - internationally.

Exactly right. And on our side, we have fifteen Senators each standing in front of a microphone and each saying something different.

We deserve to lose.
