A man being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings who was killed in Florida early Wednesday by the FBI was reportedly going to admit his role in the 2011 Waltham triple homicide, according to news partner WCVB.
Khusen Taramov said he and Ibragim Todashev were being questioned as part of the bombings by the FBI official and law enforcement officers in Orlando.
Taramov said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters, WCVB reports. Taramov said they were interviewed nearly three hours, and at some point, "something went wrong," and Todashev was killed. Sources said Todashev was about to admit his role in a triple homicide that happened in Waltham on Sept. 11, 2011, when he "went crazy."
"There was some sort of aggressive movement that led the FBI agent to believe he was under threat and he opened fire," the law enforcement official told ABC News. It was not clear what role Todashev may have played, but he was "about to sign a statement" admitting to a role with Tsarnaev in the unsolved murders.
The Waltham Police Department, the Middlesex District Attorneys Office and the Boston division of the FBI did not comment on the case. The State Police referred calls to the FBI.
The Middlesex District Attorneys Office is looking into the possible tie between now-dead bombing suspect Tsarnaev and the Sept. 11, 2011, murders of three men inside a home on Harding Avenue.
Tsarnaev had been training with one of the 2011 murder victims in an attempt to transition from boxing into a possible career in the sport of mixed martial arts, according to news partner WCVB. One of the murder victims identified by police, Brendan Mess, 25, of Waltham, was a well-known mixed martial arts fighter.
The three men killed had their throats stabbed and their bodies covered with marijuana, according to police. The grisly murder scene had produced no leads made public to date. Cambridge residents Eric Weissman, 31, and Rapheal Teken, 37, were also killed. Teken graduated from Brookline High School and Brandeis University.
The murders are under investigation by the Waltham Police Department and the State Police Middlesex County CPAC Unit.
The FBI confirmed today that a person was shot and killed in Florida, but would not disclose details about the investigation.
"The agent, along with two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel, were interviewing an individual in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation when a violent confrontation was initiated by the individual," the FBI said in a statement.

Boxing, MMA.... his hands were LETHAL WEAPONS!
Luckily for Uncle Scam the man they accused his dead and cannot defend himself in court and the compliant Corporate Media will convict him in the court of public opinion based only on hearsay. Move along, nothing to see here.
Whoa!
According to wikipedia he grabbed a knife and went at the FBI agent.
This may break bad or good. If it seems incontrovertible that he’s guilty, it’s over; but more than likely someone on our side screwed up.
Okay, it seems he was not in custody, but at his apt. preparing to leave the country and they went there to question him.
Still a monumental cock up.
According to wikipedia Waltham murders 2011 two Massachusetts state troopers were there with the FBI agent who was from the Boston Field office while they interviewed Todashev.
Thanks...but I really don’t care about either one.
If FBI planned to execute him, wouldn't it be done in complete secrecy ? Why would they let a word of this shooting get out ?
.
“Still a monumental cock up.”
I think so too - the FBI didn’t have full control of the scene and this guy wanted to die as a martyr. But, sadly, with this administration, I can’t completely rule out the cover-up theories.
So you’ll go with the “truly incompetent” theory.
Totally possible.
This was a long interview, not a street standoff.
This decade’s version of Arkancide?
Lot’s of strange things going on.
They’re saying he pulled a knife, not that he used his hands.
You’re being too logical. Ain’t no conspiracy theorists got time fo dat!
Maybe both?
Just wanted to re-post that and add; On any subject.
The FBI agent was probably a woman and the individual was overpowering her. Think diversity.
Can one think why the guy wasn't frisked?? And the cops aren't trained to defend themselves against a knife other than by using a gun?
And how many shots did it take to make him really, really dead?
I’m reading the FBI and two local troopers were interviewing him...This makes little sense.
