Carney acknowledges White House senior staff told of IRS probe findings

The timeline for when senior White House officials knew about the IRS scandal seems to be shifting.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Monday that the president’s counsel was told on April 24 about the preliminary findings of an IRS audit that showed tax officials unfairly targeted Tea Party groups applying for tax-exempt status.

Carney had previously said that White House counsel did not have any details about the IRS probe and was given a generic heads up that one was being conducted.

Senior legal counsel Kathryn Ruemmler was told about the audit on April 24, Carney said Monday. She then told Denis McDonough, Obama’s chief of staff and other senior officials about the investigation.

“It was the judgment of counsel this is not a matter she should convey to the president,” Carney said. “Her opinion that this is not the kind of thing that requires notification to the president.”

Well, they didn’t tell Obozo, because he was probably golfing, and since he’s nothing more than a sock-puppet, his puppet handlers (Jarrett, et al) were all that needed to be informed. Why tell Goofy and confuse him.

“Her opinion that this is not the kind of thing that requires notification to the president.”

The concept of "plausible deniability" has value within an environment where bad and illegal things are commonplace. Everyone knows they need to make the effort to shield the boss while the underlings do underhanded things.

That being said, at a certain point, I think when the really big stuff hits, you have to go to the boss and say, "You have to be aware of this one -- this is bad." And I find it inconceivable that the White House counsel would learn that the IRS was used as a weapon against Obama's political opponents and just shrug and say: "He can read about it in the paper; there's no reason to bother him with a little thing like this."

Obama knew all about it. He had to.

Someone will step up and take the blame for Obama. The worm will turn when they face possible jail time and then they Sing like a Canary.

Just recently, the latest explosive Benghazi hearing with the whistleblowers was nuked off the news because of the Jodi Arias verdict......if that wasn’t enough, the Cleveland kidnapping story was breaking.

I agree. I think too many freepers are too quick to assert that nobody will turn on Obama, that he will be insulated from all fallout. I do not believe that. Obama’s demeanor when talking about benghazi tells me that he fells personally vulnerable with regard to at least that scandal.

The Benghazi nightmare can be solved by answering three simple questions:
Where was the president?
What was the president doing?
What did the president know?

Those three simple questions still haven’t been answered.

The thin is, who do they turn to? The GOP? THEY are going to do what? Anyone in DC knows they are in the tank for the Dems. So where does a person go and who does he tell?

Would you risk your family knowing the record of the GOP?

Concur with your analysis.

Respectfully...
...Perhaps there is a fourth complex question"

As Commander-in-Chief -what orders did he send through the chain of command...
and/or...
What orders did he decline to issue?

Justa thought...
