We are on the honor system.

If you don't want to be on my list for your state or country, then FReepmail me. You will be removed promptly.

If you want to volunteer to keep your state ping list for a state that has nobody or only one person keeping that state's ping list, please FReepmail me.

The 50 states are also in alphabetical order on my profile page. The screen name JLS starts the Alabama's ping list that I have, and if you use your Find Function, the second time you find the screen name archy, then you'll find the Wyoming ping list that I have.

(After archy in Wyoming are some lists for countries that are America's friends, IMHO, then two more lists of screen names that were legacies sent to me. The diabetes ping list has grown a lot. The last list has been getting smaller when requested or found to be redundant.)

Having a keeper or manager of a state ping list is a lot easier than the alternative of searching for it on my profile page. That requires searching for the state's name or stardard abbreviation incorporated into a person's screen name, and if nobody in a state does that, while a lot of people do, then you may have to work your way up or down among neighboring states, such as the list of states that you find under "Local Topics" when you post a story.

Click on the above keyword statepinglist for a history of my state ping list project. There are two other short essays which should answer most questions.

You can also find a current Keepers of state ping lists at the bottom of my profile page.

My original plan was to just ping my particular state list for a particular state story, and then assume that the keeper or manager of that state's ping list would dutifully ping their state ping list also because their state ping list was probably bigger than mine.

After reflection, that was a problematic assumption as the keeper or manager looks like they are subservient to me. That was the last thing that I wanted. I just wanted to take advantage from a database that I made for the country as well as the states.

So I changed my initial plan to use my particular state ping list to FReepmailing keepers or managers of particular state ping lists as a notification about particular stories, in this case, e.g. Creeping ice destroys homes in Manitoba, Canada and Minnesota, US

Neither FReepmail nor a ping about 12 hours later elicited any reactiom from Squawk 8888, who has the the ping list for Canada, nor mplssteve, who has the ping list in Minnesota.

Maybe a new ice age is already upon us, and this is old news to Squawk 8888 and mplssteve. I hope you can appreciate my dilemma. Any feedback will be considered.

As of now, I think I should use both a FReepmail to those who keep state or country ping list, and a delayed ping to the relevant lists sometime after those FReepmails.

Again, I made a national ping list for stories like this one. The Keepers of state ping lists was a secondary derivative. If you want off any of my lists, just FReepmail me. FReepmail is the best way to get my attention.

Please remove me from the ping list.

I already know how to use the keywords and topic to find these when I want to read them.

Cheers.

I keep New Mexicans informed but don’t always Ping the list for every story. However, I do add New Mexico to story topics or keywords as appropriate, and NM members can always find them that way. Haven’t had any complaints yet!

So, the articles are categorized by state, and then by ... ?? ... as to importance for immediate attention.

I will do my best for the DE ones. But the result will be better if someone else is likely to help if/when I am not logged in for a while.
