In the Texas lawsuit where a football star is out to get an engagement ring returned, the ex-fiance is now telling her story and has returned fire with a counter-suit.
With the help of a powerful Houston attorney, Erin Marzouki is seeking to correct what she calls her ex-fiance Mario Williams' 'silly' accusations and doesn't intend to give back the ring because it was given to her as an unconditional gift.
Former Houston Texans star Williams, who now plays for the Buffalo Bills, is worth over $30M with a $100M contract, but that isn't stopping him from suing Marzouki to get back the $785,000 engagement ring he gave her in February 2012.

"In one year he claims he spent $1,123,000..." Van Halen's "Sucker in a Three Piece Suit" comes to mind.

I’m happy that I’m married to my soul-mate but if I ever had to do it all over again, God forbid, I would find myself a simple, sweet Southern girl from a poor to modest background.
And if I was wealthy, I wouldn’t tell her until after we were married.

Engagement rings are given in anticipation of marriage, a contract.
If the receiver of the ring breaks the contract, they give the ring back, if the giver of the ring breaks the contract the receiver keeps the ring.

"Van Halen's "Sucker in a Three Piece Suit" comes to mind."I was thinking of Frank Zappa at the beginning of Dance Contest on Tinseltown Rebellion:
"This man is trying desperately to let everybody know that he is not a queer.
He's not queer, he's not queer."
Pretty expensive beard, if that's the case.

3/4 of a million dollars for a ring? I could think of about 3/4 of a million better things to do with that kind of money.

Are you a lawyer or just play one on FR? I am not sure engagement is a contract. Marriage is a contract, but maybe not engagement. I don’t know.

He is correct—it is given in contemplation of marriage. She must give it back. It’s bad enough women trap males with another’s child, but if they were allowed to keep engagement rings, WOW!
