Gregory Dean, Jr. was pulled over in New Lebanon, N.Y., Sunday for a light on his license plate being burnt out. But what began as a simple traffic stop ended up with Dean being arrested over two bullets in his registered firearm, which put him in violation of the states new law, the Journal News reported.
Last month, a provision in New Yorks strict gun control laws went into effect, making it illegal to have more than seven rounds in a magazine unless said firearm was being used at a range or in a competition.

Just about anything can cause a traffic stop. It’s impossible to not find a reason.
Once you’re stopped, they go looking for more reasons to get money.

Wait a minute! We've been told police were all for the Second Amendment and wouldn't enforce anti-2A laws.
Actions vs words - which to believe?

This is how they do it. They take normal, non-violent people and MAKE them lawbreakers, then they arrest them and say “Look, we’re solving the crime problem”
Of course, they deliberately leave guns in the hands of violent criminals.
I said deliberately on purpose.
To: SWAMPSNIPER
THAT is exactly what happened. If his license plate light hadn’t been out, there might have been an ‘on and off’ short in his brake/tail lights.

I would love to do a random check of police magazines, but how do it without getting killed would be a challenge.
I think the law should apply equally to the police and military. Maybe the guy should have kept his mouth shut.

Ill bet that max ammo rule exempts the police too.
**************************************
Actually it doesn’t , they forgot to add that in the legislation ... they just assumed that the cops would exempt themselves.

One of the press’ articles, at the time, described the boat as looking like “swiss cheese”. I’m guessing that’s more than 7 holes.

Not so. They amended the law so as not to apply to law enforcement officers. They retain the right to carry as many rounds as they like as well as there exemption from laws relating to assualt rifles and machine guns(Thats correct law enforcement in NY state can legally own machine guns). Some animals are more equal than others.
