Senator John McCain, who famously defended his then presidential opponent Barack Obama against an islamaphobic supporter during a 2008 campaign rally, defended President Obama once again on ABCs This Week Sunday, cautioning his Republicans colleagues to cool it with talk of impeaching the President over the Benghazi attacks and its aftermath.
In response to Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) invoking the I word, McCain called for caution:
With all due respect, I think this is a serious issue, McCain told guest host Martha Raddatz. I will even give the president the benefit of the doubt on some of these things. We need a select committee.
On how much blame former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton deserves, McCain was much less generous:
I think the Secretary of State has played a role in this she had to have been in the loop in some way, but we dont know for sure.
McCain next turned his ire on the now official 2016 Republican attack-ad on Clintons what difference does it make? outburst during her Benghazi hearing....

McCain being McCain.
The GOP is dead.
This is a good sign, McCain always on the wrong side of an issue when it counts.
Means this issue is starting to count.
You’re right. It makes me smile.
In the course of events, here she is with a gun in her hand and one of the bad guys in front of her. He says, “Can you handle a big gun like that?” She says, “MY DADDY IS FROM TEXAS”, and she shoots him twice and a third time in the middle of his forehead.
Attaching this movie to Benghazi: WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE”, Clinton says. I say to her, “It means life and death if you can't kill the enemy, ex-Secretary of State Clinton.” The woman in the movie had a weapon and wasn't afraid to use it multiple times to save the kid and herself. Our brave men tried to save our people and themselves, couldn't kill all the enemies, not enough weapon fire and it was Clinton's and Hussein's fault - THAT'S WHAT DIFFERENCE IT MAKES. Clinton/Hussein make me sick. And, my daddy was from Texas, too.
And McCain makes me sick, too.
“My Senator makes me want to vomit.”
I feel sorry you have that piece of s for your senator. I don’t know how you stand it.
You must be glad that you don’t live in San Fran nan’s district. LOL
You are to be commended for the ability to cope with all those bastards.
And this is why I say impeachment is a waste of time and money. The House may impeach, but the spineless Senate will do nothing. McCain’s allegiance is strictly to his fellow politicians. He has forgotten that anything else matters.
No, what you’re witnessing is the real McCain.
The guy is nothing but an undercover agent for the RATS.
If you check, you will find he crashed more planes than he didn’t. I don’t think he ever made a kill in a plane.
"We both will help al Qaeda with weapons transfers
and cover it up against the American people.
What can possibly go wrong?"
This time it’s a massive stroke ~ get ready for a new senator from Arizona!
I try not to think about it.
“McFlake” is turning out to be Johnny’s twin.
This could be the deciding factor...but it's still about 47%.....stuck on stupid.
I wish he’d get drunk and crash behind enemy lines again.
((sniffles))
McCain wants a Senate select committee...
Such a committee would include him, of course. And it would be chaired by a Democrat, with McCain as ranking member, of course.
A Senate select committee thus becomes a means of killing two birds with one stone:
a. Giving Harry Reid and the Democrats a means of obfuscating and eventually smothering the controversy.
b. While giving Senator John Sidney McCain important face time.
By McCain's standards, that's a perfect solution...
