Carbon dioxide levels reach all-time high prompting new warnings about climate change
Daily Mail ^ | May 10, 2013 | Sara Malm

Carbon dioxide levels have reached its highest throughout human history, recent figures from a US monitoring station show.

The level in our atmosphere is now at a record high 400 parts per million, prompting renewed warnings of the ‘huge risks’ of climate change.

The shocking figures, which have risen from 270ppm before the Industrial Revolution, is a result of human activity such as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation.

The preliminary figures have come from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) monitoring station in Hawaii.

The greenhouse gas has not been at such high levels for around three million years.

The prehistoric climate had anaverage temperatures were 2C-3C higher and sea levels were around 20 metres above what they are today, Bob Ward of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at London School of Economics, said.

‘We are creating a prehistoric climate in which human societies will face huge and potentially catastrophic risks.

‘Only by urgently reducing global emissions will we be able to bring carbon dioxide levels down and avoid the full consequences of turning back the climate clock by three million years,’ he said.

Greenpeace UK executive director John Sauven said: ‘Our common future is now bound up with this one simple measurement, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, and it now stands well above what some of our greatest scientific minds say is safe.

‘The implications are grave, we're facing major adverse planetary changes, our seasons are shifting faster than we thought possible, but even now there is still cause for hope.

I have said before that earth is nearing the end of about a 30 year cycle of increased tectonic activity. A hundred years ago it was Katmai in Alaska, 200 years ago it was Tambora. Will we have another huge volcanic eruption, or were the huge earthquakes off Indonesia and Japan the last major event for this cycle.

"Carbon dioxide (chemical formula CO2) is a naturally occurring chemical compound composed of two oxygen atoms covalently bonded to a single carbon atom. It is a gas at standard temperature and pressure and exists in Earth's atmosphere in this state, as a trace gas at a concentration of 0.039 per cent by volume".

"The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has crossed the "psychological threshold" of 400 parts per million.

If there was severe drought throughout the midwest, where would the moisture come from to create big thunder storms and tornados?

CO2 levels rise, yet the temperature stays the same. really good correlation, warmists!

Maybe recent record for CO2, but guess what? At the same time as this supposed all time high, the Earth is NOT getting warmer! Hasn’t for 16 years. I guess the Warmists didn’t want to mention that little factoid while wringing their hands about the “all time high” CO2 number. People might get the wrong impression. Instead they totally dance around the issue by repeatedly emphasizing it was supposedly hotter a long time ago, and oh yeah, CO2 was supposedly high then too. We’ll just leave it to the reader to guess what that means (”global warming”, in case you couldn’t guess). As it is, the Warmists must simply be hoping people have been so brainwashed and are so unable to actually think for themselves any longer that they’ll will mentally fill in the deliberate blanks with “current higher CO2= Global Warming”.

They don't possibly have enough data to back this up. When the very first sentence of an article is a lie, the rest can legitimately be summarily dismissed.

Hawaii is special ~ it's always live!

There are various monitoring stations on the peaks on the Big Island. The one where they do the CO2 sampling is supposedly DORMANT ~ yet the same station samples for RARE GASES seeping up through the volcanic mass immediately below.

There are a couple of other sites used for CO2 measurement ~ both 'down hill' from volcanic peaks ~ so the result is we don't know what surface measurements mean.

Numbers taken from a single US monitoring station.

Yeah, ok, whatever!

It`ll be 28 degrees here due to gullible warming.

I don't know where "HERE" is for you but tonight it IS going to drop to 29 degrees here in S.E. Michigan........

“Of course that assumes that the CO2 data are legitimate, statistically valid, and unfudged.”

Well, of course they are, they were taken on top of a volcano. Perfect spot!

[[They even has a guy on explaining why the lack of tornados this spring is due to polar ice melt.]]

So if there’s an increase in torandos, it’s ‘man-caused’ globull wamring’s ‘fault’ and if there is a lack of tornados, it’s ‘man-caused’ globull wamring’s ‘fault’? By golly I’d liek to invest in a ‘win win’ stock market too- Any which way the wind blows, these3 scientists win and keep gettign funded I guess (but of course there’s real science showign very clearly man is not to blame- but that’s beside the point- m u s t b l a m e m a n

“parts per million, people!!”

To paraphrase another FReeper;
It’s as if you rented a 10,000 seat arena for a concert, and 4 people came and sat down.

Not to mention grammatically incorrect.

Yep- our total contribution is .03% of the total amount of CO2 in atmosphere- it’s so small it barely registers i nthe overall scheme of things, but these ‘man-caused’ globull wamrign idiots have made a career out of convincing hte world that our measely little .03% controbution is so devestating that ‘soemthign mustr be doen immediately to save the planet’. The only reason they have gotten away with their asinine insistence that man is cuasing global catastophy is becasuse noone o nthe right has told them to sit down and shut hte hell up and stop peddling fear with BS science-
