There is a silver lining in the story of the North Carolina high school student arrested Monday for accidentally leaving his shotgun in his locked car – he’s just earned himself a scholarship to his dream school, Liberty University.
Cole Withrow was expelled from school and charged with a felony after school administrators overheard a private conversation between Withrow and his mother about the gun. According to a family friend, Withrow had gone skeet shooting the day before and forgot to remove the gun from his car before driving to school.
While Withrow will not be able to go back to his high school, he will be allowed to finish the year and graduate on time by attending an alternative schooling program.
“When I reached out to encourage this responsible and impressive young man, I learned that he wanted to go to Liberty University, but couldn’t afford it,” Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. said in a press release. “I told him that we would do whatever he needed so that he can attend Liberty. Anti-gun zealots tried to vilify him for doing the right thing, so Liberty has decided to award him the help he needs to attend a private Christian college. I was really impressed with Cole. He is a humble and meek Christian kid who only wants to do the right thing! We want students like Cole Withrow.”
Falwell learned about Withrow from a local TV broadcast, and noticed that Withrow and his sister were both wearing Liberty University t-shirts during the segment. Falwell later learned that Withrow’s sister was a graduate of Liberty University.
Neither the university nor Withrow’s immediate family could be reached for comment as of press time.
Recently Liberty University relaxed its policies toward carrying concealed weapons on campus. The new policy allows students to bring their weapons into the classroom and other academic buildings, but not dormitories.
I love a happy ending!
What a refreshing story! Yea!
Ping!
Awesome!
We blued and refinished ours in shop class all the time. 80s too. Guns in out pick up gun racks too. In the school lot.
We had to WALK IN TO THE PRINCIPLES OFFICE WITH THE GUN to verify it was not loaded before walking through the halls with it to shop. No one batted an eye.
Me too!
As a bonus, Liberty University with it’s concealed carry policy is one of the safest college campuses in the country.
Take that, Princeton High School administration twits! :)
!!!!
Great news!!!!!!
EXCLUSIVE: 2ND N.C. MOTHER SAYS DAUGHTERS SCHOOL LUNCH REPLACED FOR NOT BEING HEALTHY ENOUGH
The scales of justice seem to be out of balance in some cases.....

They have said that it’s unfair that he wasn’t allowed the same concessions as an assistant principal who made the same mistake in 2011 when she unwittingly brought a gun to school and was suspended for three days without pay but didn’t face criminal charges....

Great story!! The only problem is that Falwell should not have gone public with the decision to award the scholarship because it will piss off the “authorities” and they’ll be even more harsh with the kid.
Props to Liberty U!
What a great ending...
I like what Falwell did and the fact he did it so publicly.
The more light we shine on these Common Core leftist scum “administrators” the better, IMO.
Because of the scrutiny they may well back off from their gestapo tactics, at least temporarily.
What the school meant for evil, the Lord meant for good.
I;m not a fan of JF.sr but Jr. done REAL good.
If it'd been Malik, the dreadlocked homie who belongs to a gang, talking sh*t about his Glock, they would've let all this slide quietly by.
