A city councilwoman says a quilt made by a group of students should not be allowed to hang in the Martinsville City administration building.
She says the quilt is offensive to African Americans.
But the students who made it say it showcases what they learned working on a special project.
It's a story that's got plenty of people talking.

Each student made a quilt square.
But one representing their journey learning about the area with a black stick figure offended councilwoman Sharon Brooks-Hodge.
Moon bats are perpetually offended.
Lets see how this one plays out.

what a twisted demon that idiot councilwoman is
I hate that phrase “I am offended!” my clients regularly use that phrase as if it is meaningful and I disabuse them quite hastily of the notion that they have the right to not be offended.
Where in the Constitution does it declare that no one should ever be offended?
Never heard of Martinsville - where is it?
The video in the article is 12 minutes long, but I encourage those who have the time to watch it all. If you cannot push it out to the 10th minute and watch the young man who made the “offensive” patch in the quilt question Hodges. I feel so sorry for those students....a hard lesson in ignorance from adults who should know better.
Didn't work then and shouldn't work now.
South-central Virginia. Where they have a short-track NASCAR race twice a year. I went to the one a couple weeks ago. It was great. Beautiful little town with apparently one ugly lady on town council.
Virginia.
So, so tired of this “how does every frigging thing around me affect me or offend me as a black person” in your face attitude that colors virtually everything a governmental representative says or does.
That crap don’t cut it any more - falling on deaf ears — bark it up another tree, honey..... Unh uh, talk to the hand!
The only racist in the room was the black lady. Seems like “black” and “racist” are interchangeable words in this new world.
Please note the NAACP’s statement that the cause of the problem is that the “young man” had not been properly indoctrinated yet.
Not indoctrinated yet? Thank God.
If THIS is the worst thing that occurred to that reprehensible woman on that day, she’s living a pretty nice life.
Some people live for the opportunity to be “offended.”
When it comes to local black politicians finding racism under every rock, it is now impossible to distinguish parody from reality.
Someone need to tell the b!tch to go p!$$ up a rope.
Better yet, ALL the students should declare that they are OFFENDED by the idiot councilwoman’s BIGOTRY and INTOLERANCE.
OMG....in the you tube video I just posted Hodges makes the comment she is not “one of those house-grown negroes”. WOWZERS!!!! (wonder if anyone will find that offensive?)
Also calls her fellow council members “good old boys”. (offensive or not?_
