Working out at the gym at their sleepy New England college, two students chatted about how "crazy" it was that bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon. Three days later, one of them was named a prime suspect.
Returning to campus on Sunday after being evacuated on Friday during a massive manhunt for the bombers, students at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth swapped recollections of seeing Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, back in the dorm, at class and in the gym in the aftermath of the bombings.
Tsarnaev was working out in the gym from 8 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, listening to music on his iPod, when he struck up a conversation with fellow sophomore Zach Bettencourt.
"It's crazy this is happening now," Bettencourt recalled Tsarnaev telling him when the bombings came up. "This (these bombings) is so easy to do. These tragedies happen all the time in Afghanistan and Iraq."
Reuters was unable to confirm the conversation with Tsarnaev, who was hospitalized, unable to speak and does not yet have a lawyer.

Wonder if they’ll rebate his tuition since he’s disabled for the rest of the semester?

His lawyer will seek SS disability for him.
Something has to be done about these bombings. I propose this:
1. All potential terrorists must submit to a universal background check before purchasing a bomb.
2. Bombs must have no more than 7 grams of explosive.
3. All bombs must be equipped with bomb locks.
4. Anyone found with an illegal bomb faces a minimum of 5 years in prison.
5. No bombs shall be automatic.
6. Assault bombs will be outright banned.
7. Pass legislation to ban concealed carry bombs on a federal level.
8. Introduce bills to ban future purchases of the Barrett 50 pound shrapnel bomb.
9. Approved bomb purchasers must submit to 3 weeks of training of proper bomb safety and handling.
10. Outright ban on high capacity bombs.
This will ban terrorism forever and ever but evil Republicans will say it’s doesn’t do anything and refuse to vote for it and therefore more people will die. It will be all their fault.

For someone who was considered promising as a student that must be a disappointment and a bit of a humiliation.
There's no apparent support either. Mom and Dad are not around, big brother was a violent nut case...
I'm not excusing anything he has done. But, if there is a recipe for disappointment and failure he would seem to have drawn all the necessary cards.

Overkill. All that is needed would be a “Bomb-free Zone” sign posted.
(Or a “No Muslim Terrorist May Enter” sign, but that’s not PC.)

This guy was as mentally crazy as the Newtown shooter was. Add in Islamoradicalism, and you have an even more volatile mix.
Yeah, and bombs cannot be painted black.
That sticks in my craw also. A lot of media types used the word ‘tragedy’ referring to this (and other) attacks. ‘Atrocity’ is a much more fitting word, IMHO.
