Terrorism. Chaos. Fear of the future. In the age of Obama, America is undergoing a fundamental transformation that much everyone knows.
But what few seem to realize about this transformation is that the sheer stress of living in todays America is driving tens of millions to the point of illness, depression and self-destruction. Consider the following trends:
Suicide has surpassed car crashes as the leading cause of injury death for Americans. Even more disturbing, in the worlds greatest military, more U.S. soldiers died last year by suicide than in combat;
Fully one-third of the nations employees suffer chronic debilitating stress, and more than half of all millennials (18 to 33 year olds) experience a level of stress that keeps them awake at night, including large numbers diagnosed with depression or anxiety disorder.
Shocking new research from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that one in five of all high-school-aged children in the United States has been diagnosed with ADHD, and likewise a large new study of New York City residents shows, sadly, that one in five preteens children aged six to 12 have been medically diagnosed with either ADHD, anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder;
New research concludes that stress renders people susceptible to serious illness, and a growing number of studies now confirm that chronic stress plays a major role in the progression of cancer, the nations second-biggest killer. The biggest killer of all, heart disease, which causes one in four deaths in the U.S., is also known to have a huge stress component;
Incredibly, 11 percent of all Americans aged 12 and older are currently taking SSRI antidepressants those highly controversial, mood-altering psychiatric drugs with the FDAs suicidality warning label and alarming correlation with school shooters.

Yup. Something that did wonders for me was all the backpacking I did in my teens and 20s.
Surviving in atrocious weather and running out of food and water (thankfully not all at the same time) did a lot to help me appreciate the comforts we so take for granted.
I've often thought that the Outward Bound and similar programs, if extended to perhaps half a year to a year, would do wonders for whiny yutes.
As boot camp often does.
I've done that. Minus the dog.
Hint: Magnetic key safe. Much cheaper and faster than AAA.
We are living in a time of great demoralization. Ironically, or maybe not so ironically, demoralization was one of the most powerful tools of the politburo.
This is how I feel — increasingly demoralized. Hubby and I have worked hard and saved all our lives ...never spent our wad — just invested in kids’ education if anything. Now we stand, always getting into debt, work just SUCKS all the time ... can never get ahead — and know we never will be. It IS demoralizing. It makes me want to just leave this society — go live and work the land — get away from the majority — live some different values, among different people.
I’m tired of the elitist snobs. I’m tired of the lazy, criminal louts. I’m tired of the vindictive non-caring folks and our superficial culture — I want a saner, more compassionate, common sense lifestyle. Knocking ourselves out for luxury and to “keep up” with the Jones’s isn’t cutting it ... they take it all from you anyway. I just want to live my life out simply with the ones I love ... I’m nearing 50 myself.
No problems for me....I left the USSA long before anyone ever heard of Obumbo. I am as happy as a clam on my beach.
My only fear is Obozo cutting off my social security.
Oh, I do listen to Rush and Savage every day to keep up with
the news.
What you wrote is heart wrenching, and I think very common. No society can last when it doesn’t properly reward those who play by the rules. No society can prosper and continuously move forward without those who are willing to delay gratification and work for the future. There are solutions, but they aren’t going to be easy.
Yep, and lots of them are posting their doom and gloom on Free Republic. I told one of them to knock it off, not ten minutes ago.
Never lose it again...
Volunteer for disaster relief work sometime. Meet people who have no keys, cell, phone, purse, money, dog, house, and family.
Americans need to pull their empty heads out of their large, pampered asses and re-evaluate their priorities. (This is not directed at you in particular, just a general sentiment.
Dad's father was one of the first surveyors. As near as I can tell, he was born somewhere in Washington county.
A friend sent an email that gave me a better perspective of what we missed, but I don't have a place to put the pics in order to post them here.
You can see some of them if you do a yahoo search for "1935-1939 - Pictures of the United States" and check out that gallery of our past.
Obama is killing our people.
I've come to believe those who say this has been done to us on purpose to achieve those very results.
When the dispatcher answered in about 1 second she said in a loud stern voice “WHAT IS YOUR EMERGENCY”. I whined, “I locked my dog in my car”.
I could almost hear her, under her breath whisper “oh sh*t”. All of the emergencies, the bombing, exploding fertilizer factories and assorted robberies and carjacking and here she gets a call from a woman who has locked her dog in her car. I could hear the disappointment in her voice. I was so tickled that I had to laugh! :)
I used to have a magnetic key box I need to get another one.
Private schools are different somehow?
I borrowed a cell phone to call family members for help first. This made me think of something that I had not really considered before and that is how few phone numbers that I have memorized now. When people started having multiple phone numbers and you could dial them up on your cell phone without remembering the number, I just stopped memorizing them. This was a wake up call because of the old ones that I do still remember, none of those people were at home and I had not memorized their cell phone numbers. I am working on this now.
More than ten years, and I'm folding everything up to live in the boonies with a shotgun.
Your post was worth the previous 70.

Yeh, so say the doctors or companies who are pushing this ADD, ADHD, crap. What a scam.
Comes from turning our backs on God and embracing Satan. Satan can’t fill the God-shaped void in our lives, so we eventually snap. The only cure is Jesus Christ.

It’s just SOCIALISM. Come on . .it’s here. It’s BEEN here, for a long time. It is like a cancer, a weed ...it just creeps in — lands on fertile soil and just sprouts. The fertile soil is complacency and Godlessness, indifference, haughtiness. America has been in a trance due to prosperity for the past 40-50 years ...we’re WEAK, sick ... look at the Bostonites, cowering in their homes — look at the pothead festival ...it’s PATHETIC what Americans have become. I want off THIS merry go round ... just put me out on the farm and leave me alone ... lol. Sad way to think, I know (plus, I just want to be ready for the gargantuan collapse that is sure to ensue ...)
