Several Republican lawmakers are calling for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings to be tried as an enemy combatant, rather than as an ordinary criminal.
It is clear the events we have seen over the past few days in Boston were an attempt to kill American citizens and terrorize a major American city, read a Saturday statement from Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.). The accused perpetrators of these acts were not common criminals attempting to profit from a criminal enterprise, but terrorists trying to injure, maim, and kill innocent Americans. The suspect, based upon his actions, clearly is a good candidate for enemy combatant status. We do not want this suspect to remain silent.
Their statement came after Dzhokar Tsarnaev was taken into custody and sent to the hospital Friday night.
[snip] America is part of the battleground, he said. If you capture someone on the battleground, they should not be given the privilege of a civilian trial where they are given different rights...
[snip] We continue to face threats from radical Islamists in small cells and large groups throughout the world, they said. They have, as their primary focus, killing as many Americans as possible, preferably within the United States. We must never lose sight of this fact and act appropriately within our laws and values.

BINGO! This was not a workplace incident!
I thought this article would be about Lindsey Graham, enemy combatant.
No, it’ll be called a “Leisureplace Incident” I’m guessing.
I disagree, he committed a crime in Massachusetts, they should try him there for the crime. 100+ accounts of assault + 4 accounts of murder.
The man is technically a U.S. Citizen and he is in America. There are no grounds for ignoring due process rights.
This was probably why the FBI was so quick to read him Miranda Rights last night already; so he didn’t have to talk and could be tried as a citizen in a regular court of law.
This stinks more every day.
He’s not an enemy combatant... constitution applies.
He’s still very much a suspect. Innocent until proven guilty before you lynch him based on the FBI 30 second of video
“Obama, Holder, and the Politically Correct will fight to give this terrorist a “civil” trial..”
And sadly, McCain, Graham, Rubio and the authors of this new amnesty will fight to import MORE of the same kind with NO vetting and be sure they get to vote. Hypocrites. McCain wanted to shut down Gitmo. So did Norquist.
They’re trying to throw you a bone again....McCain because of voting for more gun background checks. Don’t fall for it.
Agree 100%.
He should not even be tried under Federal law. I am the shocked the liberal hypocrites have not said anything about this.
He should he tried under MA law.
Obama’s prosecutors can now seek the death penalty in a state where it is banned.
Liberal hypocrisy at its finest.
Point this out to them.
I’ve been waiting for the ‘Sporting Event Incident’ designation myself.
I don’t like it but this one is an American citizen caught on American soil. This only serves to weaken our constitution further.
Would it be OK to kill him with a drone strike on American soil?
He doesn’t have to talk anyway whether he gets those “rights” read to him or not.
What does Graham want to do torture him until he co-operates?
This is so creepy.
Just remember the Feds consider Christian organizations “hate groups” who are next on the list to be discriminated against.
There is enough evidence, picture dropping off the bomb, eye witness who looked him in the eyes and whose legs were blown off, finger prints within stolen SUV that was used in escaping gun battle from police in which his brother was killed, firearm used to shoot at federal and local law enforcement who encircled the boat, ballistic match of that firearm and others to the dead MIT campus policeman, plus whatever can be taken out of places he lived and worked to convict him of murder. Any court any where will convict this guy of murder and terrorist activities, no attorney could get him off.
As such, if convicted in the right jurisdiction he will be legally executed, which is what I want.
Actually, I want more, I want those that supplied him with money and those that financed his “infection” to become a terrorist to be exposed and then prosecuted. I want the who chain of command for the terrorist cell to be exposed.
And then the “My brother made me do it” defense.. Female jurors begin to cry.. Media agrees. Sniff Sniff.. Life sentence.
MA law does not allow for capital punishment. Fed law does but he should not be prosecuted that way. This in my opinion is a usurpation of the law which can be used against other individuals and groups.
Innocent until proven guilty and MA doesn’t allow for death penalty but Fed law does. He did not commit a federal crime and this is a dangerous path.
This attack came to us via loose immigration policies and this clown wants to make them even looser! Hey McGrahamesty!! The Islamic terrorists are now training to infiltrate in large numbers across our southern border. Do your job and secure the nation! Secure the borders you fickin idiot before many more innocent Americans suffer and die at the hands of Islamic barbarians!!
Continue with your plans to weaken security beyond this point, you are a TRAITOR. And that goes double for your partners in treason, McStain and McRubio!! And your treasonous Gang of Eight Traitors!! And Obama, Reid, Pelosi and all demoncrats and RINOS!!
The day of reckoning will come.
“I disagree, he committed a crime in Massachusetts, they should try him there for the crime. 100+ accounts of assault + 4 accounts of murder.”
The Feds took jurisdiction because here in the People’s Republic we don’t have the death penalty.
