A senior Obama administration official said a series of briefings overnight have produced concern the Texas blast could have been at least criminal in nature. Authorities are trying to contain their speculation for fear of causing a panic, but the official told The Post the cause of the blast is "suspicious."
Authorities suspect the blast was set off by a truck or rail car holding a large quantity of ammonia that somehow caught fire or blew up. Ammonia, under certain conditions, can become combustible or explosive.
"It's 50-50," the source said. "Some sort of explosion caused the ammonia truck/rail car to create a shockwave up to a half-mile away, destroying that little town."

The press is NOT happy with that news. They wanted a Zimmerman - but one who really is white...a conservative. Someone they could hate...
Maybe the 'WACO' angle was to try one more time to trash American citizens who happen to be conservative...to give their press boys some hope of red meat... the left wing wanted a distraction - maybe... maybe... it was them who did this....

Kidding - we don't know and I certainly hope it's NOT some fellow citizen - even if they are liberal...I was doing an imitation of the liberal press musing about it being done by the opposition political party.
Could there have been a massive fertilizer theft that is now covered up by the fire? No accounting whether there is anything missing or if it all burned or exploded.
I heard one Texas official on Faux News say it felt like a small atomic bomb went off. In 1947, they had a ammonium nitrate explosion from a ship in Texas city, Texas that leveled a industrial town of 15,000. The explosion flung vehicles through the air.
The ricin guy they nabbed was pictured in front of a “I’m a Christian and a Democrat” bumpersticker.
It wasn’t a factory it was a storage depot. I doubt very much it was anything but an accident. I don’t think terrorist are smart enough to go after targets like this, and if they did they would wait till such things are moved to populated urban areas.(which is why theses things generally are not located in urban areas) Then you really would be looking at losses in the thousands not hundreds.
Just thank God the death toll was as low as it was, and pray that it stays that way.
Excellent thoughts. Spot on.
Right before the major explosion, what’s the flash on the left hand side? (see #21)
You do have a couple interesting points. Boston is a liberal bastion and the media is all over it like flies on Obama's face. West Texas is a conservative area and the media barely mentions it. Katrina did extensive damage to the Southeast and Texas, but the media set up camp in School Bus Nagan's front yard.
That happened a few miles from me. Guy drilled a pipeline and sucked a bunch into his lungs. What a mess but no explosion
Didn’t know it was a storage depot. Local news in Houston has been calling it a ‘fertilizer plant’ ... which I assumed meant factory.
SnakeDoc
I heard the dispatch recording. The guy only meant the explosion was huge, not that a bomb caused it. That’s normal speaking for here in Texas. I’m confident it’s either an accident or some idiot messing around the factory caused it but no way was it terrorism.
I get an error message and have to click twice to get anywhere on FR.
I am with you on that score. I trust the officials in Texas to give us the truth..unlike the Feds these days.

I live near DC. There are aaaaaaall sorts of people here, and a lot of targets. I have not felt safe since 2001.
The Communist media would love to find a white, right-wing, Christian terrorist as the cause of this explosion.
OK. I'm talking about industrial facilities. If your mission is to inspire fear of your group, it doesn't work if you blow something up that is easily explained as an accident.
Good lord... Devastating. Just frigging amazing, the power of that blast.
the fire had been burning for an hour, so i would imagine that it simply found a new fuel supply/flashpoint...
