President Obama can't see how Congress could buck public opinion to vote against new gun laws, he said in an interview released Tuesday.
“The notion that Congress would defy the overwhelming instinct of the American people after what we saw happen in Newtown I think is unimaginable,” he told "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie in an interview conducted before Monday's explosions at the Boston Marathon.
The Senate is expected to vote on gun legislation later this week, though it's not yet clear whether there will be enough votes for it to pass. Obama has been calling lawmakers to try to convince them to vote in favor of tougher gun laws, The Associated Press reported late Monday.
In the budget released last week, Obama said he offered Republicans a “realistic compromise."
“It does not give Republicans everything they want. Frankly, it doesn't reflect everything that I would like to see,” he said. “What it does is it puts forward some of the ideas that Republicans had suggested around entitlement reform that I think are reasonable policy.”
This is the case with most leftists. They just find it "unimaginable" that people won't recognize their superiority and just obey and comply.

The existing gun laws aren’t even being enforced. Chicago, with it’s high homicide by gun numbers, has a backlog of cases it’s not even bothering to investigate. Because most of them would affect the “catered-to constituency”. These goons know full well that more gun control legislation will only affect law-abiding citizens. Or in some cases, previously law-abiding citizens.
So when that gang of the catered-to kicks in the door of your home while you, your wife, and your children are sitting there watching teevee or having dinner-when, after hours of rape, assault, possibly torture (setting on fire, forcing you to swallow bleach, etc-all of which and more have actually happened in recent crimes), and bagging up your valuables, they decide to kill everyone, the only “one life will be saved” will be that of the criminals, because the unarmed innocent citizens never stood a chance.
