US President Barack Obama will snub Lady Thatchers funeral by failing to send a single senior member of his administration, The Sun can reveal.
Ageing former Secretaries of State James Baker, 82, and George Shultz, 92, will lead the US delegation, the White House will announce today.
The slight comes as German leader Angela Merkel also declines the official invite. She will send her foreign minister instead.
But Downing Street is most angered by rejections from Obama, First Lady Michelle and Vice-President Joe Biden.
And none of the four surviving ex-US leaders Jimmy Carter, George Bush Sr, Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr is coming either.
The response contrasts with glowing US tributes on the day Lady Thatcher died.
A No 10 source said last night: We are a little surprised by the White Houses reaction as we were expecting a high-profile attendance.
The snub came ahead of last nights Boston marathon bomb outrage.

I hope Michael Reagan goes. He’s from the right family — the family of liberty’s champions.
And Dick Cheney...what can I say? That man always steps up and does the hard things, doesn’t he? He too is a blood brother to Lady Thatcher.
***making the effort at her weakest to be there for Reagan. I didn’t think Obama could get much lower.***
Class and Christian heritage were inherent in the British character and assimilated by ‘native’ populations in the colonies that Britons established. The other benefits endowed by the Brits were courts, schools, libraries, churches, charities and hospitals. Sadly, resentment and grudges are more easily passed to the subsequent generations than gratitude. Obama’s hatred for the old British Empire of his father’s memories are greater than his appreciation for his own education and charmed life in the anglo-influenced US.
Ideological worlds apart from her.
I don’t the MF or his Holstein hipped wife at my funeral either. If he went to England he would be with the protestors anyhow.
I doubt they will even have the funeral on TV now. It will be Boston all week. God Bless Boston and Thatcher.
Bingo! My thoughts exactly...W should have gone..and in addition to all the obvious reasons why, there’s one more..his dad. GHWB is unable to travel. W should be there in his stead.
She would not have wanted that muzzie demon near her casket.

Real Americans loved Lady Thatcher... never doubt that.

‘President Obama snubs Margaret Thatcher funeral”
Good, let Margaret Thatcher RIP! Obama is an enemy of what she stood for and for him or any of his ilk attending her funeral would be an abomination.
I LOVE AMERICA... the federal government is not America... America is an idea inspired by GOD that was codified in the US Constitution. Love that and wipe the dust of the other from your feet.

Some feel it is intentional, but I think it is unintentional. It is the result of their ‘hate of all things different,’ than their own elitist agenda. They have no desire to be respectful of anyone other than their own immediate circle.
How many times have we complained about some stupid faux pas that borders on insult that these people commit at high profile affairs? How many times have we questioned what their handlers have told them how to act and WHY DO THEY KEEP MAKING the same goof ball courtesy mistakes?!
I'd rather they NOT ATTEND than continue to make fools of decorum.
Michele Bachmann is attending. I can’t think of a better representative from the US House.
I believe as it has been pointed out several times. W has recently had back surgery. He may not be able to travel either. Although the Mrs. Bush could/should attend.
Does anyone REALLY think we can get back the America that was unafraid to stand, not only in a town hall, but on the street or in a town square ?
I'm old enough to see death from my house ... for me ... it's over.
and that sucks.
Oh wait...I take back what I said.
These sources say Bushs doctors told him to give up golf until his back healed, but he managed to sneak in some chipping and putting in Florida and has now been seen back on the links at a Dallas country club.
Of course isn’t there still a pesky arrest potentially pending if he leaves the country for war crimes?
Personally, I would rather that Zero and his administration be invisible for Maggie’s memorial. Given the way they showboat, the only way for that to happen is that they not attend, so I am very happy about this.
Obama can only go where there is enough security to be absolutely sure he doesn’t get offed.
He is afraid to travel out of his cocoon
GWHB can not travel now.
Dubya has just had back surgery.
I don’t really want Zero’s administration there anyway.
I will be well represented by Dick Cheney and Baker, though I would not mind seeing Palin and some other conservatives attend on their own dime and with no fanfare to bolster my representation.
