Via Legal Insurrection, between this and Krystal Ball’s Socratic dialogue with a five-year-old about gay marriage, evidently it was indoctrination weekend at MSNBC. The novelty here isn’t the sentiment, it’s the candor. Hillary made this same point more digestible for the public by ladling on warm-fuzzy sauce about a “village” raising a child together. (Similarly, don’t think of huge government programs as budget-busting liabilities. They’re Christmas presents!) Harris-Perry had 30 seconds to give her version of the same point; when you’re operating within those time constraints, there may be no way to make the pitch in terms less creepy than this. I almost want to congratulate her for throwing a word as clammy as “collective” in there. It shows a certain bravado.
Here’s your counterpoint, from 2011, on whether the U.S. is “investing” enough in education. Another half-trillion or so ought to turn things around, I think. No wonder Ron Paul’s getting into home-schooling.
Update: Apologies to John Sexton. He had the Harris-Perry video yesterday and linked to the same USC post I linked to above, but I honestly didn’t see his item at Breitbart until after I posted this.
“When I attended public schools we were taught that one of the evils of Communism is that it takes the children away from their families for indoctrination. Along with the idea that under Communism the government owns the people and in America the people own the government. Things have changed.”
In Miami, FL in the mid 70’s “Americanism VS. Communism” was a required class for graduation.
That's like saying homosexuality is "up the butt."
Our government has step by step taken children from mothers before they were really developmentally ready. Now we can see quite obviously why.
Lady, just because your culture has so screwed up the family unit that a majority of your kids dont have fathers/parents/a normal family unit, doesn’t give you the ability to say that I have to yield mine.
Which is what the root of this is. The black community, where you always hear this interdependence crapola coming from is now trying to rebrand child rearing. Since the concept of parents, together raising and being responsible for children is long gone in their neighborhoods, they are now trying to turn this into our new norm, with “the hood” being responsible for kids.
Excuse me, but my sisters, my mother, and my grandmothers were/are all black women, and every one of them have had husbands who fathered their children.
Perhaps you should have prefaced that statement with the word, 'some'.
It is important to remember that the general problems in the black population of this nation are not CAUSED by them being black. By focussing on their racial identity we will be playing into the narrative of liberasl who want us to believe all the problems of blacks are the result of past and present racial discrimination. Of course the liberal solution to racism is more racism.
It would be better to focus on the erroneous way of thinking that leads to these problems rather than the correlation to external racial characteristics. After all, there are many white people and people other ethnicity who are heading down the same path to destruction.
If MSNBC had their way, Cosby's control would end with bringing the child into the world.
But seriously, having a child is a major emotional decision that parents choose to do. The feeling the mother feels when the child moves and kicks is the beginning of a very real physical and emotional bond between parents and child.
Why would MSNBC think that women in today's society are capable of turning that off and handing off their child to the collective to raise?

Why would MSNBC think that women in today's society are capable of turning that off and handing off their child to the collective to raise?
Well, it wasn't MSNBC. It was one reporter/commentator who's obviously a media propagandist for the Communists infesting our government. I don't doubt, though, that a lot of heads were wagging in unison at MSNBC while they watched her deliver that vile communication.
What can you say about such a mindset? It's born of an accumulation of enforced groupthink and a severing of ones common sense and ability to reason for self.
In reality, there's only a tiny minority who actually believe in the dogma of Communism, and they are dark souls who've lost any tether to humanity. The rest are 'useful idiots' who haven't ever thought through any of what they promote.
Think about it. How can someone who's passionate about saving endangered animal species also support the killing of hundreds of thousands of unborn humans every single year? If they thought it through, they wouldn't, but such is the cognitive dissonance on the left.
Likewise, none of those wagging heads have thought through what would happen if the government suddenly deemed all children to be property of the state. It's mindless idiocy on parade.

I believe I did in the initial post. I know that being Black in America does have its unfortunate issues. That said, Blacks here are freer than their compatriots in their native countries from what I see, and more opportunity. And, as you point out, there are many decent Blacks who do subscribe to having families. But all you have to to is take a look at the statistics, and you have to come to the inescapable conclusion that the Black Community has some serious problems with having children without fathers. And that leads to young people who end up being less than productive members of our society. And yet, the so called “Black Leaders” still beat the drum for continuing to “overlook” the bad stuff that is occurring and that the solution is to continue to make them “wards of the taxpayer.” I didn’t mean to offend anyone.
One thing is certain and that is every coprophilic queer is a liberal vote for the demrats.
Hitler tried this. Turned out bad for all involved.
Unfortunately, our welfare system (as well as our refusing to stigmatize out of marriage child bearing) perpetuates this. Conservatives are called “non-compassionate” when we don’t want to continue to fund welfare children, I think there is no compassion encouraging people that can’t take care of themselves to have children. The problem is growing exponentially as non-self reliant people have children who are mostly destined to be dependent on others.
