"You don't know what freedom is because you never lost it!" With a pointed finger Manuel Martinez called out Anti-Gun Committee Leader Floyd Prozansky during heated testimony on Friday. You can bet Prozansky got the message. To quote Mr. Martinez:
"malicious individuals, masquerading as Democrats,.. established ... a dictatorial regime ... in my nation called Communism, Socialism, Stalinism, Marxism, and whatever other named -ism you want to put on it. The reason why it was done was to take away the guns from the People."
Mr. Martinez escaped the brutal Communist regime in Cuba in 1954. His testimony included how citizens under Castro were first disarmed by legislation similar to that being shepherded along by Gun-Grabber in Chief Floyd Prozanski. Defenseless, many Cuban Citizens were later summarily slaughtered.
Having been present at the testimony, I can assure you even the Liberal hacks in the press pool were visibly shaken. The expressions on the Senators faces ... well they spoke for themselves (you can see them at the end of the video). I'd wager no one in room did not feel a chill up their spine, or a tear in the corner of their eye, as Martinez described scenes of sons being torn from their mothers arms, and shot dead in the street, because they lacked the means to protect themselves. He spoke from the heart: no notes or teleprompter required.

Cuba was not yet Communist in 1954.
1954? Perhaps a typo?
Castro didn’t take power there until ‘59.
perhaps the writer needs to watch Godfather 2 to learn that it was new years day 1959 that Castro Castrated Cuba.
Anyway you slice it, that was a powerful video—and I’m sure the date can be sorted out........
It’s a typo, he says 1959 in the video. And this one should go viral.....
bump. The several refugees from communism that I know all say the same thing too. They would never vote for a Democrat.
Contrast that with the economic migrants from Latin America.
“That’s what happened in Cuba 52 years...54” is the man’s exact words. He got it right, the writer got it wrong.
Good video
My sister-in-law came here in 1992 from Viet Nam.
She once told me that if she’d owned a gun, she’d never have spend a year in a re-education camp.
They were kids like us, but in their faces, they seemed old... it was odd.
The things they told us made your hair stand on end! They were brought here and living with their Hungarian relatives who were sometimes 3 and 4 times removed from their own nearst relatives. Their families were incomplete and people were missing from their lives. Most of the kids were quiet and shy. However, I met some of their adult relatives and their stories were horrific.
A guy who lives in my precinct is from Bulgaria. He swam the Black Sea for 10 hours, dodging patrol boats, to get his freedom. He NEVER misses an election. I can guarantee he never votes democrat. These people all know what we have forgotten.
To paraphrase Ben Franklin, those who would trade their liberty for a little security deserve neither.
Uncles Fidel and Che were running around in the mountains of Cuba operating guerilla forces in the early 1950’s.
The gentleman who testified might have been exposed to some of their “activities”.
IMHO
Mr. Castro and company were active in the 1950’s, attempting to overthrow the Battista regime.
good one
He is right, Stalinists masquerading as democrats
I met a Holocaust survivor at the Houston Astrohall Gun show in late 1993 or early 1994.
He was arming himself and his family to the teeth. He said if he had to loose a family again it was better to all go down fighting.
I had the same experience and my memory of the young girl I befriended matches your description. She was like an elderly woman in a child’s body.
The girl I remember most was very beautiful and quiet. Withing a couple months, she could speak our language and was a top student.
She remained the most courteous, refined and hard working girl I knew.
