TRULY honoring God would mean that he honored and kept the covenant that he made with his wife instead of following his hormones!

I wonder how long “Evita” would have stayed around if Mark didn’t get back into politics?

I’m working on some poetry, so inspired am I at this disgusting turn of events. It’s sung to the tune of “ the Girl from Ipenema” ...but it’s called “The Whore From Argentina.”

So since God forgave him, he should be re-elected. Just like death row inmates. Just because God forgives them doesn’t mean they won’t be executed.

Well the Republicans of the district have chosen him by a wide margin so that’s that. The time for whining has come and gone, no one capable of beating him even bothered to run, obviously.

Support him or allow liberal scumbag “comedian” Steven Colbert’s sister to use hollywood money to win the seat for Obama.

I just hope his spurned ex-wife doesn’t make trouble.

More than half of them cheat on their wives (and the female pols on their husbands) I’d wager. He is just of the ones that got caught. He’s about a billion times more trustworthy with our tax dollars at least than some marxist pig.

Why does he keep saying “my” God?

Years ago, I would occasionally ponder what I would do if confronted with the situation in which I had to choose whether or not to vote for a candidate who ostensibly has a decent, conservative voting record, but also proved to be a degenerate scuzzball in his personal life.

I don’t really wonder about this anymore. With the country in rapid cultural and moral decay, and continuing its swirl down the toilet, the importance of “character” is something I actually find myself valuing more and more. I would NEVER give my vote to such a lowlife like Sanford. No matter how vile the opposing candidate. I’d just sit out the election.

I don’t think God had anything to do with this.

I’m betwixt and between:
I believe in God’s infinite grace, so I don’t want to disparage Sanford’s claim of redemption. I would have preferred he found his redemption prior to his infidelity, and barring that, leaving the object of his unfaithful lusts and reconciling with his wife.

This is a bit unseemly to me; but I hope he truly has worked out his salvation with fear and trembling.

I guess he is right up there with Newt, although at least he didn’t ask for a divorce while his wife was hospitalized with cancer.

So, now Sanford has sunk to an even lower low, playing the “God” card to tell us that we shouldn’t judge him because God has forgiven him. In other words, Sanford is using God to get what he wants and further his political goals. Kinda like how he used his wife to get what he wanted and further his political aspirations. In the final analysis, the man is nothing more than a user. He disgusts me even more than the Democrat he is running against.

The main reason we never elected a “President Nelson Rockefeller” back in the 1960’s and 70’s was that he divorced his first wife and soon after married a younger woman.

Women in the GOP were incensed and Rockefeller couldn’t beat Goldwater in 64 or Nixon in 68 for the Republican nomination.

"I want to thank my God," Sanford said.
Uh, which God would that be? Certainly not mine. And maybe "his" God can forgive him...I cannot. I am a hard right conservative...I will vote against this man for whatever screwball, liberal Democrat runs against him. I am getting so tired of voting AGAINST a candidate instead of FOR one. I will be embarassed to say this man is my representative in Congress. To go from Joe Wilson to this is not a step down, it is a fall!

I’m going to bet a lot of Dems voted for him in the primary, just to give conservatives an excuse to stay home in November.

I have read all the comments on this thread and I couldn’t help to think back to the election bid of Romney.

Even through I was one of the people who was dead set against him as our candidate, he was chosen and we had to live with it.

In the ensuing process, the democrats/socialists used all the ‘talking points’ republicans/conservatives as their basis for the reelection of obama.

It worked and the liberal Sanford will face is probably salivating at the thought it can work again.

So carry on, the liberals are taking notes.
