One of the rules of good writing is that main words should add information. Since the author had already said the victim was "gunned down," the noun "shooters" does not add information. Instead, it causes the alert reader to wonder what information the writer wishes to conceal.

this is so right on! it needs to be spoken over and over again in the black communities. but, i have to admit that as a school nurse, you have black girls who are already making a list of the men they want to be their ‘baby daddies’. they already know what welfare benefits they can receive, etc. you can try to get them to set their goals higher, but when their parents have already indoctrinated them good luck!
