Glad to hear it.
Sad for the workers but happy for the country.
Why would you move anything to N.Y.?
Please explain what your comments mean.
“It was supported, in part, by a $1.65 million grant from the Empire State Development Corp. and a New York State Community Development block grant of $750,000.
“In Kentucky, the state Economic Development Finance Authority approved incentives up to $4.5 million over a 15-year period. Kentucky also provided a $250,000 grant. Remington is expected to add 100 jobs and invest $5 million in the Mayfield facility.”
If Marlin was closing so as to be out of a non-freedom loving state, I’d be happy about it. But I really get irritated by states giving ‘incentives’ to business. Businesses should stand on their own merits without help from taxpayers. Customers, yes. Taxpayers, no.
Pre-planned business move. Not a move to support 2A rights.
Marlin Firearms has been gone from North Haven,Ct. For well over a year.I drive past their former factory and there has been NO activity at all during that time.
They probably had only a small administrative detachment remaining here.
You are right, the new rifles are sometimes called Remlins and are suffering some growing pains from the production move, training/QC, and supplier issues. I hope they do not cheapen the brand. Mighty fine lever action rifles.
Sounds like Remington is going to dig its' heels in and resist moving. Perhaps they can be convinced to see the light and regroup at their Kentucky location. Probably not for some time, I'll bet... they're probably hobbled by the terms of those state grants and incentives.
I have a .22 Golden Mountie lever action Marlin.
It’s an exceptionally good shooter.
This happened in 2011
Me too! Mine was made the year I was born. My dad bought it, and held it until I was 10 years old. It’s among my prized possessions. Still in mint condition... so it’s held up better than I have. :-)
Yep, it’s crazy to move to Cuomoland!
That said, they may be in a position to prosper when the upstate NY revolt commences.
Remington bought Marlin? They made great guns... hope someone will buy the old factory to make guns (US REPEATING Arms bought the old Colt Armory to make their guns, so I hope someone will.)
My favorite ranch rifle. Stainless .44 mag.
I’ve been interested in getting a .45-70 guide gun for a while, but I hear such mixed reviews of the quality in the current rifles being produced that I’ve been holding off.
droooling........
What make & model is it?
They will regret moving to KY. While a gun friendly state, it is the New York of the South when it comes to business and high taxes. The Kentucky Revenue Cabinet’s combined level of anti-business stupidity can only be equaled in the Kentucky Legislature and possibly the IRS.
I live here and no way in hell would I open a business in such a high tax, union hell bound, anti-business state.
They will regret it...
“That said, they may be in a position to prosper when the upstate NY revolt commences.”
There is no wiggle room for honest (leaves out lawyers and politicians) individuals in the phrase “Shall not be infringed”.
Even if you do not own a gun you need to know this. I checked this out on "Truth or Fiction" who verified it. I trust them more than snopes.
Marlin Firearms is already closing its doors! They are doing it to us, America ! This needs to be spread to all gun owners and sportsmen/women. We cannot rely on the media to inform us of these types of matters.
Something You May Not Know That Is Happening ... Who is buying companies, manufacturing guns??? For the last several years a company called The Freedom Group has been buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers. Some of the companies are Bushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Arms and H&R. Some people worry that this Freedom Group is going to control most of the firearms companies in the United States . If you control the manufacturers you can decide to stop selling to civilians.
What a perfect way to control guns. Now if you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned by a company called Cerberus Capital Management. Guess who controls Cerberus??? GEORGE SOROS, Obama's chief financier!! He wants to restrict or ban all civilian guns. Please pass this on to all your freedom loving friends. This needs to come out. Why have we not heard about this in the "mainstream" media? I would think this would be BIG news. (Soros also owns Progressive Insurance). If you don't know who George Soros is, you need to do some Research. He backed Obama with millions of dollars and Obama is a puppet on a string controlled by Soros.
