Glad to hear it.

Sad for the workers but happy for the country.

is moving operations from both the North Haven and Maine facilities to plants in Ilion, N.Y.

Why would you move anything to N.Y.?

“It was supported, in part, by a $1.65 million grant from the Empire State Development Corp. and a New York State Community Development block grant of $750,000.

“In Kentucky, the state Economic Development Finance Authority approved incentives up to $4.5 million over a 15-year period. Kentucky also provided a $250,000 grant. Remington is expected to add 100 jobs and invest $5 million in the Mayfield facility.”

If Marlin was closing so as to be out of a non-freedom loving state, I’d be happy about it. But I really get irritated by states giving ‘incentives’ to business. Businesses should stand on their own merits without help from taxpayers. Customers, yes. Taxpayers, no.

Pre-planned business move. Not a move to support 2A rights.

Marlin Firearms has been gone from North Haven,Ct. For well over a year.I drive past their former factory and there has been NO activity at all during that time.

They probably had only a small administrative detachment remaining here.

Remington also closed a Bushmaster's plant in Windham, Maine, and is moving operations from both the North Haven and Maine facilities to plants in Ilion, N.Y., and Mayfield, Ky. At the upstate New York plant southeast of Utica, the company said it plans to add nearly 100 jobs and spend $5 million in three years.

Sounds like Remington is going to dig its' heels in and resist moving. Perhaps they can be convinced to see the light and regroup at their Kentucky location. Probably not for some time, I'll bet... they're probably hobbled by the terms of those state grants and incentives.

Remington bought Marlin? They made great guns... hope someone will buy the old factory to make guns (US REPEATING Arms bought the old Colt Armory to make their guns, so I hope someone will.)

Nothing, I mean nothing is sadder than going past a shuttered factory. Just think of the lost livelihoods, the useful products, the sense of doing worthwhile work - all just gone.

The following has been floating around for a while as an email. Seems like tin foil hat stuff:

Even if you do not own a gun you need to know this. I checked this out on "Truth or Fiction" who verified it. I trust them more than snopes.

Marlin Firearms is already closing its doors! They are doing it to us, America ! This needs to be spread to all gun owners and sportsmen/women. We cannot rely on the media to inform us of these types of matters.

Something You May Not Know That Is Happening ... Who is buying companies, manufacturing guns??? For the last several years a company called The Freedom Group has been buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers. Some of the companies are Bushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Arms and H&R. Some people worry that this Freedom Group is going to control most of the firearms companies in the United States . If you control the manufacturers you can decide to stop selling to civilians.

What a perfect way to control guns. Now if you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned by a company called Cerberus Capital Management. Guess who controls Cerberus??? GEORGE SOROS, Obama's chief financier!! He wants to restrict or ban all civilian guns. Please pass this on to all your freedom loving friends. This needs to come out. Why have we not heard about this in the "mainstream" media? I would think this would be BIG news. (Soros also owns Progressive Insurance). If you don't know who George Soros is, you need to do some Research. He backed Obama with millions of dollars and Obama is a puppet on a string controlled by Soros.
