Kaufman Police Chief Chris Aulbaugh and other officials confirmed the reports that Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, had been shot at their home near Forney. Their deaths follow the Jan. 31 slaying of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse. It is a shock, Aulbaugh said late Saturday. It was a shock with Mark Hasse, and now you can just imagine the double shock and until we know what happened, I really can't confirm that it's related but you always have to assume until it's proven otherwise. He said the Texas Rangers were helping with the investigation at the McLellands home in an unincorporated part of the county, but that the sheriffs department will be leading the investigation. Because have to treat it as related [to the Hasse investigation], we'll be working side by side again, Aulbaugh said. Authorities were also working Saturday night to confirm that other employees in the Kaufman County's district attorney's office were safe, and they believed that they had confirmed that everyone was accounted for.

The only ones laughing are certain members of Daily Kos who even now are making fun of Texans and their gun mentality, even now when a dead DA and his wife are still lying in blood after a brutal murder.
Hard to believe that DA didn't have a reinforced front door. A BuddyBar could have saved their lives.
How is your front door? Can it easily be kicked in? Yes, this is serious, no one is safe in that county until these bad guys are caught.
I live in neighborhood in Ft. Worth that has turned about 1/2 Hispanic over the years. Tonight, with the windows open I’ve heard gunfire 3 times so far and it’s quite for a Saturday night.
I think an intruder is more likely to break their foot trying to kick my door in than anything, but I keep Messrs Smith & Wesson right beside me after dark for such unannounced visits, just in case.
I was impressed by your earlier posts about your home defense set-up. You're just all sorts of bad news for an intruder :-)
Hey, It’s Easter Sunday. All those illegal invader, gang bangers are devout Catholics donchaknow.
Yes, but I haven't told you the way to keep zombies away. It's my own thought up method: Put broccoli all around your house. No one like broccoli, not even zombies, so they won't go near your house. I'm convinced this will work. However, it's good to have a machete near by for lopping off their heads if the broccoli doesn't work. :o)
plato o plombo?
The violence and revenge is moving north as the drug cartels carve-out more territory and eliminate those LEOs who get in their way. I wonder if the Colorado Prisons Director’s murder was inter-connected comehow, even though I read it was Ayran Nation guy who did it?
A LEO subpoena of search engine requests for the DA's name, address and other personal info could be interesting.
A search of government agency requests for the DA's address could also be interesting. Then look for other likely connections as to how the address was identified.
You may be correct ....
Setting a president and an excuse to murder officials who do not tow the line?
“I have a heavy duty BuddyBar under my front door knob to reinforce the door so it can’t be kicked open. It would take a lot of kicking to defeat that bar.”
Angle iron bolted into the door frame also works. Drop in a two by four and you’re protected from the barbarians. Statistics say that if a bad guy can’t get thru a door in less than a minute, he leaves. And no, I don’t know where that statistic came from.
what individual, the DA? or the shooter?
good point, excellent point, where was their gun?
Condolences to family and friends of Mike & Cynthia McLelland.
We don’t know the full circumstances behind this incident and an earlier shooting of another DA that seems to be related.
My condolences to both families.
We have the same thing in NW AR. an apartment complex is busting at the seams with those types. It’s about 5 blocks away gunfire can be heard late at night but I never hear sirens from any cop car going there.
I’ve got family NW Ark. You wouldn’t be talking about Springdale home to Tyson’s Chicken?
I don't care where you got that, I like it. I know it would take a lot more time than that to defeat my door. I live in a townhouse and there are plenty of houses around me and I doubt any of them have re-enforced doors. I would hear him if he kicked my door a few times and I'd call the cops so they could get him at the next townhouse if he tried that again in here.
If it was the middle of the night, he would be on foot since he couldn't get past our gate with a car. He would have to climb a fence to get in here. So, I think he would go to, in the first place, to houses around these townhouses that don't have a gate. Why come in here when it's easy picking for large homes here.
