Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, issued some words of advice for fellow GOPers: Get in the 21st century with same-sex-marriage issues.
“We do have a platform, and we adhere to that platform,” Mr. Priebus said in a USA Today video. “But it doesn’t mean that we divide and subtract people from our party” who favor gay marriage.
“I don’t believe we need to act like Old Testament heretics,” he said in the USA Today video. Rather, Republicans “have to strike a balance between principle and grace and respect.”
His statements come as the U.S. Supreme Court is due to hear two cases on gay marriage — one on a California-voted ban on same-sex marriage, and the other on the legalities of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which bans the federal government from giving marriage benefits to same-sex couples.
His statements also come at a time when politicians from both sides of the political aisle are renouncing their past objections to gay marriage. On the Republican side, Sen. Rob Portman – an Ohio conservative with traditional values — just flipped on gay marriage, in part, he said, because of the recent revelations of homosexuality by one of his sons.

He’s right in that religion has been removed as a psychological barrier in society. We lost that fight over half a century ago. We do have a lot of science showing what God already has taught.

Even sooner, Priebus, Rove Boehner, McConnell and the rest of the inside the beltway crowd are going to lead the GOP to a historic defeat in 2014 and lose the House. When that happens, Obama with control of the legislative and executive branches, will complete his transformation and destruction of the US.

Things like this have always been around, there have always been homosexuals, there have always been murderers, there have always been people lying, stealing, cheating, raping. All through out world history and sometimes in the name of “good” or “it’s right”, or even in Gods name.
What you’re saying is that now is the time that bad things are good, and good things are bad. When in fact it’s been this way since the dawn of civilization. Stop fear mongering and live your life, and worship Jesus. I haven’t seen a 7 year peace treaty signed in Israel lately, have you?

This misfit dropped the ball as head of the GOP in the last election. Then the GOP gives him another four years. The man is a loser pure and simple. I have yet to hear him bring obama to task for his lies and deceit.
I agree. The primary, most binding argument against homosexuality and all of its accessories is that it violates God's law. If a large group of people don't know, don't care, or are at least indifferent, then that argument holds no value whatsoever.
That's why I've been convinced for a while that we will lose this "debate" handily.

Ultimately it is all about the money. The big money donors Reince is trying to cultivate must be uncomfortable with the Democrats using the social issues debates against the party. This is all playing out in a non election year so the elites can get it behind them. In 2014 they are going to be telling conservatives the social debates are over, so get over it. The RNC wants to move on to politics being about economic issues - i.e. how to spread the government largesse.
The choice in the future will be between pure communism and a corporatist statist socialist party. The political battles will be economic in nature - how much more of the private sector should the government take and how to divide the spoils. Plus when and where to intervene militarily around the world until the Chinese military is powerful enough to stop us or our military becomes so hollowed out by spending cuts it is a joke.
Government’s tentacles are in every facet of American life. Corporations are hooked on socialist welfare. They pay to play, funding the two parties and receiving special favors. Look at the banking system, it is bulletproof with a permanent government safety net funded by money printing and extortion. The government has now replaced the church as the arbiter of morality. It indoctrinates the young through the education system. It has taken over student loans and mortgage financing so it is able to place the financial handcuffs of debt servitude on the population from young adulthood to old age. Through Medicare, Social Security, and Obamacare it will manage old age and the end of life experience for the masses.
Like or or not the American people have chosen a 21st century version of slavery in exchange for the illusion of security from a “benevolent” government’s safety net. When the financial system collapses from the weight of promises that cannot be met, the illusion will be shattered and the nightmare will begin. The big money donors who think they are buying protection from the RNC and DNC today will find themselves as impoverished as the man on the street.
