At question was whether it was prudent for the company to risk the return for its investors by advocating for gay marriage. The questioner also expressed disappointment with the companys most recent results and claimed they were partly driven by the boycott Starbucks faced about the gay marriage issue.
Schultz later said that if the shareholder remained unhappy with the 38% annual return on value the company provided, You can sell your shares of Starbucks. Its a free country.

That is the point of all this. The world is no longer a $5.00 cup-of-coffee world. It is a get-the-best-deal world. The CEO’s profit model is based on the past and he can no longer sustain his company on his prices. He seems desperate and out of touch.

This story broke over the weekend on radio I think by Cunningham’s Sunday talkie sub who played an audio clip. Finally it made it to print/web and the FR website. It’s still not being covered by the talkies. One local am daily talkie, Sykes WTMJ, mentioned Starbucks but not what that CEO did.
