A Massachusetts principal has been criticized for canceling his school's Honors Night, saying it could be 'devastating' to the students who worked hard, but fell short of the grades.
MyFoxBoston.com reports that David Fabrizio, principal of Ipswich Middle School, notified parents last week of his plan to eliminate the event.

Some of us have no choice. But we're working on it.
This is real child abuse. This hurts the achievers in many ways and I feel sorry for them.
Principal Harrison Bergeron, I presume.
Today on Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kindom we discover what happens when feral youths hit the real world and discover they really aren’t ‘SPECIAL!!!!!!” afterall....
Some of us have no choice. But we’re working on it.
Good luck. I don’t know how you can stand it to be surrounded by them.
Darn. And here I thought I was being all-inclusive.
But ya know... I left off trans-zoophillics also.
I’m just a real hater today.
Massachusetts must be purged from the union. There is nothing there worth saving. The state is a detrimental drag on America.
< cue evil cackle from stage left >
"I'll show them - I'll kill the ceremony altogether !"
Bwahahahahahaha....
Gee, I wonder if the kids who worked hard for it and DID win, only to see the celebration cancelled, were “devastated”.
Some of these guys need to be bitc# slapped.
Wouldn’t canceling it be devastating to the honoree’s families?
Build a school. Call it the school of equality. Only send the smartest there. As your kid gets smarter, he is taken out of school and sent to the school of equality.
This way the smart kid is ostracized by his peers, he goes to a school where his peers are equal to him and he doesnt get ostracized and everyone wins.
Ipswich will be renamed Harrison Bergeron Middle School
Or, more likely, the lazy goof-off that can't be bothered to turn in his homework really doesn't give a crap about "Honors Night."
And when "Honors Night" doesn't have the acceptable number of disadvantaged minorities attending, Principal Fabrizio won't have to face the wrath of the poverty pimps who want to know why he runs a racist middle school.
BINGO!
Nothing like preparing the next generation for the real world......more like preparing them for life as a government dependent.
My kids graduated from H.S. in MA and now 3 of my grandkids are in the same school district. I’m happy to say that excellence in academics and in sports is strongly supported. They have awards night for those who achieve scholastically and awards banquets for the athletes. There is tremendous parental support and if they ever did away with either of these there would be hell to pay.
Don’t call it off, change the name to honors and losers night.
I bet your grandkids know more about creative uses of condoms than I ever will.
Middle School is certainly old enough to learn that there are always winners and people who do not win the prizes....
if this school can’t even help its students learn something as rudimentary as this, the parents should give serious consideration to finding their kids other, much better schools to prepare their precious progeny for success living in the real world (and not just “getting by” in an artificial little imagined world that “exists” — if at all — only in the mind of an incompetent principal...)
