Obama’s Plans for the Suburbs: And How to Stop Them
http://www.nationalreview.com ^ | march 18, 2013 | stanley kurtz

This DOE project explores a variety of strategies designed to curb America’s greenhouse gas emissions up to 80 percent by about 2050.

Arguably the most controversial of those reports covers the “effects of the built environment on transportation.” To put it plainly, the “built environment” report lays out strategies the federal government can use to force development away from suburbs and into cities, supposedly for the sake of reducing carbon dioxide emissions given off by all those suburban commuters. The Obama administration wants to force so-called smart growth policies on the country: get out of your car, stay out of the suburbs, move into small, tightly-packed urban apartment complexes, and walk or take public transportation instead of driving.

The Department of Energy’s built environment report lays out a scenario much like the one I described in Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities. The report highlights two policy options most likely to increase dense, Manhattan-style urban development, without exceeding the traditional limits of federal authority. Those options are eliminating the home-mortgage interest deduction and conditioning future federal aid of all kinds on local adherence to “smart growth” principles. Of these, I think the second is the most likely to be implemented.

It has already started. I am seeing $16,000 sticker prices for new compact cars. New car prices go up from there.

I have only owned 2 new vehicles in my life and one of those was a sales rep vehicle with 2200 miles on it when I picked it up. I’ll probably never own another new car ever. Prices are outrageous.

Confiscation of cars comes right after confiscation of guns.

As our very first President warned, government is force.

The current one is intent on proving the point!

President Washington also likened it to fire, and we know the destructive nature of unrestrained and unlimited fire.

Youth, take note!

The more urbanized a population is, the more liberal they become as well. There are a lot of studies on this but some of the big factors are:
The people are more dependent on public systems.
The people are more exposed to political propaganda (better ROI to buy large markets).
People become less individualistic and more inclined to group or pop culture thinking.
Increases in community social activities versus family or individual activities. (resulting in the want to be ‘liked’ to be part of social groups).

It is societal engineering and it has a lot more to do than ‘being green’.

The sheep are more easily controlled when grouped in the same corral.

I’ve noticed that too. A friend was looking at new SUVs online today and all of the mid line models like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are all over $40K now. Several years ago the base models started in the mid $20s. A regular Grand Cherokee today costs as much as my wife’s Porsche Cayenne did in 2008.

There is a lot more inflation going on that people realize.

The progressives knew long ago there was no way to directly take the populace out of their individual autos.

All their work in the past 40 yrs has been devoted to pricing their purchase and operation out of the range of non-elites.

The sheep are more easily controlled exterminated when grouped in the same corral.

There, fixed it.

There is a counter-strategy to Agenda 21 land use policies, one that has been misunderstood for over 3,000 years: The Year of Release.

The Marxists/Fabian Socialists have basically decided how our lives will be lived, from here out.

They will make us move into cramped apartments, with Government healthcare, a bicycle, disarmed, eating the diet of their choice and working for a Government agency.

They will patrol us via drone and listen to every text, tweet, email or phone conversation. We will not be able to speak out or we will be sent away.

You don’t think the Soviet Democrats have taken over? Look at 50% of your wages being stolen and given away...look at your President giving money to Muslim extremists, look at how we are disarming our nuclear weapons and de-funding the military...look at that red light camera in your town.

The problem with the USA is that it’s a ghost, it hasn’t realized that it’s dead yet. No Palin, West, Rand Paul or Ben Carson can save us...soon, your banks will pull a Cypress and your 401K will be taken from you to backfill Social Secuity’s raided funds...

The problem with conservatives is that they think they have hope in the USA...their only hope is with Christ. The USA is 100% done...Amnesty will be the final nail in the coffin, get ready for 70-80% taxes to pay for the Mexican Hordes who will be ready to put their straw into the American Big Gulp of Welfare.

“...report lays out strategies the federal government can use to force development away from suburbs and into cities, supposedly for the sake of reducing carbon dioxide emissions given off by all those suburban commuters.”

If the intent really was to push suburban commuters off the roads each day- how about proposing a tax break for employers that deploy X% of their staff to telecommuting?

I know, I know, it would only put cash in the pockets of employers and citizens. It wouldn’t help feed the Federal Leviathan....

I doubt that 1 in 1,000 people have even heard the phrase Agenda 21 let alone know anything about it. Another example of low information voters. Strange how the map looks, if one didn't know better one would think the Eastern part of the US, excepting the extreme NE, thought themselves better than the rest of the country as they get to have “normal areas of cooperation”, or perhaps they are excluding themselves from such overreaching control by the Government. Yeah, I read the little caveat that says those areas are still under construction, how very convenient. I see another "we must vote for it to find out what's in it", and that is assuming it is ever brought to the public attention at all. I suppose that observation puts me in the Wacko category.

Remember when all the lefties were screaming about “urban sprawl?” Don’t hear much about that anymore. But it’s about time all the leftists got on that bandwagon again. After “gay” marriage succeeds, they need a new cause. Putting people in tiny boxes in huge cities is something that appeals to the totalitarian present in every leftist.
