Five days ago, this NewsBuster wrote that Harold Ford, Jr. "seems more interested in cultivating friends and avoiding offense than in saying anything interesting." On Morning Joe that day, Ford had managed to praise a trio of pols, even breaking out the old "my dear friend" line to describe one of them. When Ford employed the same shtick on today's show, Joe Scarborough eventually had enough, sarcastically asking Ford whether there's anyone he doesn't "like and respect."
This morning, Ford variously praised "the great Tip O'Neill", said he has "great respect" for Patty Murray, and even professed "I like Paul [Ryan] too." When Scarborough hit him with his pointed question, Ford responded by saying that he was a Christian who sees the good in all. That led to more ribbing from Scarborough and Willie Geist, who recalled a campaign ad from Harold's Tennessee days in which he posed in a church pew.

Amusing stuff as Scarborough calls out schmoozer Harold Ford, Jr. Ping to Today show list.
Harold is an Obama Jr wannabe...
If Obama had a son...
The Ford’s have lived in my neighborhood for the last 40 years. Jr. is actually not so bad as Ford’s go. A Blue Dog living with rabid crooks, nut jobs and dead people. Give the a guy a break.
Jr, would probably have made a decent Senator, certainly no worse than what we have now.
Sounds like a used car dealership.
Oh, wait. He's a Democrat. One and the same.
Morning Joe has some nerve pointing fingers, he sucks up to most of his guests both sides and throws them softballs.
Christie is his ideal candidate, Joes wants amnesty and a grand bargain with tax increases.
I hear you, and respect the sentiment. But when you watch Morning Joe day in and day out as I do, and see Ford finding a way to ingratiate himself with all and find a way to avoid taking tough stands, it eventually grates on the nerves, as it evidently did with Scarborough, too. I don’t feel Harold brings much to the table: for him it’s more about making friends then saying anything interesting.
“Actually, Joe, you’re kind of a jerk.”
LOL: that would have been epic!
And, I agree Jr. is just a nice guy who got stuck with a horrible, horrible family. He should just move on.
He is a social metaphysician who substitutes the opinions of others for reality, and who's primary motive in life is to please others so that they will like him and to get their approval.
Ford was the same shameless, name dropping self-promoter with Imus at one time. They haven’t spoken since Don’s unfortunate nappy headed ho comment. Don found out who his friends really were after that incident. Harold aint one of’em.
