A New York judge isnt the only one taking aim at New York Citys ban on large, sugary drinks.
In a move to prevent such regulations from taking hold elsewhere, Mississippi legislators have passed an anti-Bloomberg bill that bars counties from passing and enacting laws that require calorie counts to be posted or caps the size of beverages or foods. You can read it here.
The legislation is now on Gov. Phil Bryants desk and NPR reports that he is expected to sign it. Mississippi, its worth noting here, already has the highest obesity rate in the country.

Buy 2 16’s. Circumvent the rules, regulations, laws. Kind of like criminals do when it comes to background checks. Some times people have to be taken by the hand. And, sometimes people need a boot up their ass.
I wonder why the writer didn't mention the racial breakdown of the people suffering from obesity in Mississippi?
Also, to the author:
Mississippi, it's worth noting here, has a lower murder rate, per capita than NYC, and has a lower AIDS rate, per capita, than NYC.
John Rocker was right about NYC.
” Mississippi, its worth noting here, already has the highest obesity rate in the country”...SNARKYA$$ Bitch.
It struck me too, why is it worth noting that Mississippi has such a high obesity rate?
Yet when MSM liberal reporters report on some issues such as inner city flash mobs or shootings, it is never worth noting what the race or ethnicity of those involved are.
The logic of Miss Kliff is impeccable: because some people have a high obesity rate, it is just and proper that other people runs their lives for them. Tyranny is justified because some people are unhealthier than other people. The “healthier” people are within their right...nay, it is incumbent upon them to tell other less smart-less healthy people what to do. I doubt Mayor Boombox knows what a petty fascist he is.
This morning I had to make a crucial decision. On my own. Without the critical and necessary help of Mayor Bloomberg. Ultimately, I decided I would go with crunchy peanut butter over smooth. We will just have to see how it goes.
My point is this: Blooberg doesn’t understand what it means to be a free people, and the role of government. So, he needs a big fat helping of an Alinsky tactic - ridicule. Would be great to see people from all over the country calling into Albany to ask Bloomerg help us ‘critical’ life decisions:
1. Should I wear sunblock today?
2. How do I pick a wine to go with this cheese?
3. Is it starve a cold or a flu?
4. I’m sweating, it it a sign of global warming or am I just hot?
5. Can I use ‘buttery topping’ from the movie theater to lube the 5 round clip in my handgun, or is extra virgin olive oil a more healthy choice?
Hell, he could even ask the question my wife asks that I can NEVER get right: Do these shoes go with this? Give Bloomie a toll-free number and staff of fellow masterminds to figure all this out.
What is worth noting here is the fact that silly legislation like this is even contemplated.
FRiend you have just made my day.
As the Guinness ads say “BRILLIANT”!
funny. i would have expected this to come out of minnesota, not mississippi...
get it.
minnesota.
mini-soda... nevermind.
Just a thought, but isn’t this crap by Blomberg unconstitutional?
“But the good news in Mississippi is that they’ve seen a decline in childhood obesity of 13 percent, so we’re gonna go celebrate and highlight what has been going on there. There’s still work to do,” the first lady said.
They need to get their talking points straight.
Same reasoning he uses for banning sodapop
he uses to disregard the Constitution.
He knows better.
Eritist Plick.
Mississippi ping
Good news! We’re not #1 anymore, and haven’t been for a while.
“Coloradans Least Obese, West Virginians Most for Third Year”

is he giving us the finger?
After living in Hawaii for 12 1/2 years, I have serious doubts this was ever true. There are some huge folks there and lots of ‘em. Seems everyone, and mean everyone, has an EBT card too.
