Actress Daryl Hannah says she suffers for her hard-left activism.
The Splash star, talking up her appearance in the new assault on climate change skeptics dubbed Greedy Lying Bastards, says being outspoken in Hollywood comes with a price.
CM: Do you think that your acting career has suffered in any way — or that you’ve lost any roles — because of your outspoken activism?
DH: I know that’s been the case in some instances, for sure. But that’s OK. The truth is, I’m a human being above all. I love life. And I’d love to see life go on on this planet, and thrive.
Hannah also says reporters no longer do investigative journalism for fear of losing their jobs, one reason why the public doesn't demand action on climate change.

Exactly. If one is female and can’t act and one’s looks are fading, then one’s employment prospects in that most superficial business of entertainment is going to become dim.
The other thing I’ve noticed about today’s movies is that the women are not often portrayed as soft and nurturing, and trying to keep good manners and good morals in their homes.
Too many times, they are dressed like sluts, their mouths are spewing filth, and there’s nothing soft and lovely about them.
Well, that was my impression a few years ago when I last went to a movie. I don’t watch television for the same reason.
I’m become the old fogey we used to call older women when we were kids—LOL!

They are portrayed as super women, a role none of them can actually achieve in real life.

That’s right; the only people portrayed as caring and nurturing are homosexuals and black men. Hollywood has created a fantasy world where whites and blacks behave in certain idealistic ways, yet many of us open our doors to a world increasingly filled with people that look like the 9/11 hijackers; the world Hollywood envisions can’t happen without breeding, while the most intolerant, vicious people are inheriting the Earth.

One of the sexiest women ever, in her prime (Clan of the Cavebear; Splash; Roxanne ..). Capable actress not usually given challenging parts. Writes well.
And an excellent pro-ecology and animal rights activist and advocate. Drives a diesel El Camino that runs on straight used vegetable oil discarded from restaurant fryolators.
Not too much sun, and stay away from surgeons. Linda Evans (Evanstaad) another notable unfortunate case of squandered natural endowment.
The "look" of exercise, health and fitness ...and some genuine enthusiasm ..goes a long way for anyone in their 50's to 80s. Hollywood/New York would do well to promote some exemplars of this among their actresses. Maybe Bo Derek, Kim Alexis, Cheryl Ladd, Heather Locklear, Pam Dawber, Lindsay Wagner, Meredith Baxter, Susan St.James, Jodie Foster, Carol Alt, Chris Evert, Rachel Hunter ...?

Somehow, I doubt that there are many 52-year old conservative actresses getting ingenue roles either.
When they start to loose their “looks” they start trashing the right to get acting parts......
