Liberals have accused Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia of being the court's resident bully, but when two liberal female Suprem Court Justices--Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan--this week tried to browbeat Scalia and lawyers arguing against the Voting Rights Act's Section 5 pre-clearance requirement, the mainstream media hailed their efforts.
In oral arguments in Shelby County v. Holder on Wednesday, Scalia made the point that members of Congress have no reason whatsoever to vote against the extension of the Voting Rights Act and that he was "fairly confident it will be reenacted in perpetuity unless--unless a court can say it does not comport with the Constitution."
"I think it is attributable, very likely attributable, to a phenomenon that is called perpetuation of racial entitlement," Scalia said
Scalia's point was that once a bill has the effect of ensuring that minority candidates get elected from "minority" districts, it is almost impossible, in the political system, to vote against extending the act.
"Whenever a society adopts racial entitlements, it is very difficult to get out of them through the normal political processes," Scalia said. "I don't think there is anything to be gained by any Senator to vote against continuation of this act."
Scalia said there were "certain districts in the House that are black districts by law just about now" and even the Virginia Senators "have no interest in voting against this" because they would lose votes "if they do not reenact the Voting Rights Act."
"Even the name of it is wonderful: The Voting Rights Act," Scalia said. "Who is going to vote against that in the future?"
Sotomayor was not having any of it.

Kagen and Sotomaier are probably the two least capable people ever appointed to the United States Supreme Court.
I wouldn’t hire either of them to write me a will.
How did Obama get to be senator??
The low-information, low-IQ MORONS who put obozo in a position to pack this court with IDIOTS like these two broads will — I pray to God — live to rue the day.

What in the world is WRONG with any of this? These are completely accurate observations.
Either push it to all districts or be gone with it. Kagan and Soto need to provide proof that the south is more racist. Start with Biden’s district.
The burning question is how we are going to cure this rot.
Jack Ryan married actress Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine, Star Trek Voyager) in 1991. They divorced in 1999. He retired from Goldman Sachs in 2001 with enough money (hundreds of millions) to run for the Illinois Senate as a Republican in 2004.
In the middle of the Senate race against Democrat Barack Hussein Obama II, the Illinois GOP leadership demanded Ryan drop out due to some scandalous charges made in his divorce. The GOP leadership picked Alan Keyes as Ryan's replacement in the race. He lost to Obama 27% to 70%.
Correction: Ryan ran for the US Senate seat, not the Illinois Senate.
A deranged dyke and a Hispanic klan member judge Scalia. Wow, I beat he is hurt.
The same way they gave it to us. We have to organize. We have to get back into all the institutions they have taken over. We have to get our own media to get this message out better. We have to get large aggressive crowds to get in the faces of their large aggressive crowds. We have to sue and sue and sue some more.
There is no easy way here. It will take a LOT of work. If not, we will all of us become the slaves they intend us to be. Imagine a number or a brand on you and that might be motivation enough.
Bingo.
I don’t know Kagan but I practiced in front of Sotomayor for years and she was universally respected as a judge. Sorry but really, she was a really smart judge in federal court in Manhattan. I wish she had stayed and wasn’t on the SC of course, but she’s no dummy.
Well those two simply cannot be bullies, because they're liberal women, don't you know!
Something tells me Justice Scalia isn't losing any sleep over their haranguing.
“We have to organize. “
All of the “community organizers” are on the other side and have a decades long head start.
Not true. The NRA is a great example and effective too. The Tea Party is still viable. There are other venerable groups and newer and smaller ones. We have to communicate. We have to show up. We have to get out or shut up.
Sotomayor can rot in hell with her master.
It proves these two women are unfit to sit on the USSC. How stupid of them to use Alinsky tactics.
