This is just the latest revelation in the stealth inflation and food fraud theme I have written about frequently in recent months. The non-profit group Oceana took samples of 1,215 fish sold in the U.S. and genetic tests found that that 59% of those labeled tuna were mislabeled.
It seems that white tuna should be avoided in particular as 84% of fish samples labeled 'white tuna' were actually escolar, a fish that can cause prolonged, uncontrollable, oily anal leakage.
Oh and if you live in my hometown of New York City, you should pay particular attention:
Big Apple has big problem with seafood fraud: 94 percent of tuna and more than three quarters of sushi samples in New York City mislabeled.Of the 142 fish samples collected in New York, 39 percent were mislabeled. New York City led the nation with the highest occurrence of mislabeled salmon as well as the highest amount of fraud among salmon collected from grocery stores and restaurants.
The full report from Oceana can be found here.
Bon appétit!
I just picked up 100 cans of “solid white tuna”, labeled with a real brand name and at an excellent price. In case of an emergency, it’s nice to have plenty of protein with a long shelf life. Unfortunately, I’m not so sure about oily anal leakage as an emergency plan.
“If you check the labels there are only two or three tunas without soy filler anyway. So your getting oily leakage plus man boobs.”

Here in the Philippines I buy Century brand tuna.
The ingredients are Tuna, water, and salt.
Having watched a TV special on tuna inspection here, I am
satisfied that I am getting the real thing.
Damn that tuna tasted funny the other day!!
I’ve had that before when I was still living stateside. You’re right.....it is the best tuna you can buy. Good stuff.
Here in the Czech Republic, well......it’s OK. There’s a store brand from Kaufland, one of the major retailers here, and it’s good. Not as good as Kirkland, but good. Better than Chicken of the Sea, actually.
There’s a store brand from Billa, another retailer here, that’s comparable to Kirkland, but the nearest Billa is all the way downtown, and I don’t always feel like going downtown. Unless I’m in the mood for Chinese; a couple of really good Chinese joints downtown.
Last time I saw the term “oily anal leakage” was on a bag of “WOW” potato chips. They’re no longer sold.
These days you have to use caution with any food you buy. For sure I’m not going to buy any canned meat product with the words “Product of North Korea” printed on the label.

I'd call B.S. on this story, but I'll bet it's not even the real thing. It's probably from a horse's @$$. . .
The authorities will be able to locate you by following the trail. :^)
What, did they only sample San Fransisco?
Dolphin free tuna? Subscribers can hear the “classic” ad
“The Tuna doesn’t taste as good as it used to. Weemsco Tuna is chock full of dolphins as all the other tuna companies have quit using them leaving more for us. Weemsco tuna has that delicious flavor you grew up with. Remember, Weemsco Tuna for the great dolphin flavor you are used to!”
you are correct and in a sane world (ie: a country of laws, not men)... there would be consequences / lawsuits / jail time
i expect payoffs to the dems and a giant shrug by the msm
Skim milk was once considered to be, "unfit for human consumption" and was fed to hogs.
It still is unfit for human consumption, as far as I'm concerned.
The dreaded oily anal leakage.
To be avoided at all costs.
Cherons in your britch’s is nothing to laugh about.
The excerpt refers to “samples of 1,215 fish”, which implies fresh or frozen fish, not canned.
