LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Canadian tourist Tuesday was found dead in a water tank on top of a downtown Los Angeles hotel.
Elisa Lam, 21, had last been seen at the hotel on Jan. 26.
Police and firefighters were summoned to the Cecil Hotel at 640 South Main St. shortly after 10 a.m., according to LAPD Officer Bruce Borihanh.
KNX 1070′s Claudia Peschiutta reports guests were disturbed to learn Lam’s nude body was found inside of one of four large water tanks.
A maintenance worker discovered the body after he received reports from hotel guests of low water pressure in the building and went up to the roof to investigate the cause.
Peschiutta reported a man who lives in the building said tenants were warned earlier in the day to avoid using the water.
One guest, however, said despite checking in Monday night, she only heard about the water tank once the investigation began.
“I wanted to check out right away,” the unidentified female said, adding that while she had not used the shower, she had been using water to drink, wash her hands, and brush her teeth. “I’m going to stay in the Westin [Hotel].”
The fire department said health officials tested the water and found no hazardous materials.
I would think it had to be someone who is familiar with that hotel. Either a hotel employee or someone who does work for the hotel. Water tanks are not a usual dumping ground I’m guessing.
I’ll bet that was not a very attractive body if it had been soaking for almost a month.

You may be right. now I see the story says she was nude. Who even thinks of a water tank for a dumping site? Who would know or have access to water tanks?

Everyone is making jokes about the water and there is this poor young lady most likely murdered.

I could not agree more. It's pretty sad that FR is a site that at times can be as disgusting and Godless than the DUmp.
I cannot imagine joking about a young woman's death/murder. I guess the decline of a decent society can be seen witnessed as well. The really sad part is people will show up defending their "joke." Again...decent people don't do such things. Godless people do.
They’ve tried to clean it up in the last couple of years and market it as a budget boutique hotel in the hip downtown area, but it’s really still just a fleabag joint on the edge of skid row. It’s junkies and foreign tourists who don’t know any better.
Agreed. Someone’s daughter is dead at 21. Very sad.
We (FR) are supposed to be better than this. Life is supposed to be valued...and we are supposed to act towards people the way we want them to act towards us. Guess not.

The news report at the source showed some elevator security video of the supposed victim acting suspiciously, like she was hiding from someone.
