Police in Christopher Dorner standoff launched incendiary tear gas into cabin
By CHUCK BENNETT and DAVID K. LI From Post Wires Last Updated: 6:14 AM, February 14, 2013
Murderous ex-cop Christopher Jordan Dorner wanted to go out in a blaze of glory and the sheriffs deputies who surrounded his California mountain hideout provided the flames.
The San Bernardino County cops torched the wooden cabin with highly flammable incendiary tear gas as Dorner took refuge Tuesday, apparently burning him to a crisp.
Burn this mf--er! one officer shouted as they had Dorner who had earlier killed a deputy and seriously wounded another pinned down in the cabin, according to police radio transmissions.
Amid sounds of gunfire, voices can be head shouting, Burn it down! and Shoot the gas!

They deployed 7 pyrotechnic CS cans with the intended purpose of setting the cabin on fire. You can here them talking about it on the radio chatter.
Blood spatter does not automatically equal a fatal wound. He also could have applied a tourniquet to it if it was in his arm or leg.
And the longer the siege wore on, the greater the chance he could get one last shot off at an officer who was exposed for a moment.
I have no problem with the tactic of burning this creep out. He had killed enough already.
*shrug* There have been multiple occasions that the San Jose PD has been here. I've been awakened by them at my bedroom door at 2:30 AM, I've had them knocking on my front door on a couple occasions very late at night, sometimes armed for bear. I've allowed a warrantless search for drug manufacturing paraphernalia, they've done a warrantless search of one of my roommates bedroom. (They apparently don't need a warrant to search you if you are on parole).
Fully half the fix-it tickets and moving violations I've gotten in my life (one of each) were issued by the SJPD.
That being said, I like the SJPD, they have invariably been at the highest standards of professionalism, courtesy and respectful treatment of all.
LAPD? Arrogant scum on nearly every single occasion I've had the displeasure of being in close contact with them.
Yep. Traffic stop, cop sees you are a carry permit holder... You sneeze while he’s walking up to your car.
He executes you right there.
Fully justified in the mindset on display in this thread.
And yeah... We’ve seen the videos here of cops who are just that twitchy on the trigger.
Oh, cripes. If there ever was a justifiable use of lethal force by cops, it was with this situation.
Lethal force justified. Anyone remember the Philly MOVE incident where the cops used C4 to take out a block of apartments?
Yeah, and we have seen that tactic used repeatedly since.
Oops, we haven't.
Maybe the Naval Reserve is to blame? If he hadn't been in the Navy maybe none of this would have happened. Better yet, let's place the blame on the killer/fugitive!
I don’t think a CS can is designed to burn down a house. You would need something fairly combustible in the house like the Davidians used in their compound.
“He executes you right there.
Fully justified in the mindset on display in this thread.”
Damn right he is justified. You are spreading germs.
Doesn't seem to bother you too much that two families with young children lost fathers because of this maniac.
*sigh* *hangs head* *scuffs toe in dirt* OK. I'm sorry I called them arrogant scum...
And that Dorner killed innocent 3rd parties as part of his vendetta.
ROFLMAO !!!! Surely you dont think those LEOs were going to allow that now did you? Deadly force? Who was in danger if the LEOs just stayed back and starved him out?
Then why didn't he surrender peacefully?
Well OK then.
But, nuking them from orbit though...really...you should be ashamed of your intemperence.
I know a guy who can hit the black at 300 yards with iron sights from a similar weapon to what the perp had. All it would take is one shot from the perp and another cop briefly uncovered is down.
You act like such a siege is a no-risk proposition for the cops in question.
Point taken. I conflated civilian with innocent, not at all what I meant, but it is what I said.
My mistake, my misspeak.
‘Preciate you calling me on it.
My big question to everyone is this: Where was the cop with the bullhorn broadcasting at the cabin Dorner was hiding in? You know, the negotiator type who tells Dorner that his service in the Navy and his service as a Police Officer will be taken into account, and that he will get fair treatment at a trial if he gives himself up. Where was that guy?
Where was he to remind Dorner that if he doesn't shoot, they won't shoot either and that things could end peacefully? The only thing that I have heard from the radio chatter is basically that they wanted Dorner dead no matter what. This police conversation on the radio about "burn that mother******" and all this kind of stuff tells me that Dorner never had a chance of coming out alive. Period.
Whatta guy.
They sure tried to.
A small nuke, not an H-bomb...
