Charred human remains have been found in the burned cabin where police believe fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner was holed up after trading gunfire with law enforcement, authorities said.
If the body is identified to be Dorners, the standoff would end a weeklong manhunt for the ex-LAPD officer and Navy Reserve lieutenant who is believed to be responsible for a string of revenge-fueled shootings following his firing by the Los Angeles Police Department several years ago. Four people have died, allegedly at Dorners hands.
The last burst of gunfire Tuesday came after the suspect, attempting to flee law enforcement officials, shot to death a San Bernardino County sheriffs deputy and seriously injured another, officials said. He then barricaded himself in a wooden cabin outside Big Bear, not far from ski resorts in the snow-capped San Bernardino Mountains east of Los Angeles, according to police.
Just before 5 p.m., authorities smashed the cabin's windows, pumped in tear gas and called for the suspect to surrender. They got no response. Then, using a demolition vehicle, they tore down the cabin's walls one by one. When they reached the last wall, they heard a gunshot, officials said, and then the cabin burst into flames.
Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said he would not consider the manhunt over until a body was identified as Dorner.

Indeed, yet I can’t join in celebrating this as a good thing, even though I’m glad that Dorner is dead.
This time it was a cop-killing madman with a vendetta against law enforcement that makes it easy for some to justify just taking him out. But who is to say the next time the cops feel like WACO-ing someone it won’t be a law-abiding group of “bitter clingers” who happen to have more guns than the local sheriff thinks they should have? Or someone who refuses to leave their property that’s being taken by emminent domain, or a religious group that has defied local...oh, there we go with Waco again.
If the way we deal with lawbreakers is to burn them alive, then we might as well shred the Constitution and recycle it into toilet paper. It’s not about Dorner, it’s about the rule of law vs. state-run vigilantism.
“This is a lie in every way”
Of course, It’s from the la times.
“His new name is Chris P. Dorner”
Five minutes on the naughty step for you, Slings! LOL!!!
Yeah...I think everything added up to that it was Dorner before “It was Dorner” confirmation.
Obama’s son eh? But he’s a much larger man.
Very nice.
This chicken was Chris P. and not original.
Yes, I like their jazzy Ski outfits......could be the New North Slope..........
April 19, 1993........
Even you’ll have to agree that’s stretching it some.
Yeah, that’s a pretty tough record to beat...........;^)
IF Dorner’s body is the charred mass found in the cabin, great. But at this point, I don’t believe anything coming out of L.A.
Next we’ll hear he was buried with honors at sea, and no pictures will be released.
Hmmm, I wonder what "ID" they found last week near the border.
He may become like Jesse James, questions about his actual death may linger for a long time........
LOL OMG WTF ROFL OMG ROFLASC OMG YGBSM SMH OMG LOL WTF WYSIWYG BCE YAAG
Well I am pretty sure they know it was him who was shooting the whole time.
I think what they mean by identifying the body is,,, making sure the burned body is not someone else like a hostage and Dorner slipped out. Highly unlikely with that many cops surrounding, but we saw what he is capable of
-Hiding in plain sight across the steet
-Eluding pursuit several times
-his military and LE training
The guy is good, gotta give him that. I wouldn’t pass it by him to pull off some kind of James Bond switcheroo and be days gone before the body is idntified.
But I think he shot himself and then the police burned the house. Its him.
“Obamas son eh? But hes a much larger man”
Put a bad wig & boob-belt on him.
And he would still be more attractive than the Wookie.
