(CNSNews.com) - Retired Army Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin--formerly commander of U.S. Special Forces Command and deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence—told CNSNews.com that, if it had been asked, the Defense Department could have sent a plane to Libya on Sept. 11, 2012, to transport a rescue team of U.S. security personnel that instead ended up taking a chartered private plane from Tripoli to Benghazi that night.
“There is no question that we could have moved an airplane in there and we could have also put boots on the ground at the embassy,” Gen. Boykin told CNSNews.com.
“State should have coordinated with DOD and said: We’ve got to have an airplane,” said Gen. Boykin. “The Department of Defense could have provided an airplane in there. All they had to do was ask.”
A Defense Department official told CNSNews.com, however, that the type of aircraft that was used that night and the decision to use it were both determinations made by the State Department. But the Defense Department official also said that DOD would not have been able to get a plane to Tripoli to fly the security team to Benghazi as quickly as the State Department’s chartered plane did.
According to a timeline released by the Office of Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, the chartered private plane took off from Tripoli and headed to Benghazi with the rescue team about 2 hours and 48 minutes after the terrorist attack in Benghazi started at 9:42 p.m. Libya time.
According to the State Department Accountability Review Board (ARB) report, the department’s temporary duty regional security officer (TDY RSO) in charge of the security detail at the department’s Benghazi mission on Sept. 11, 2012 was monitoring a security camera and saw the terrorists swarm through the front gate of the compound

Obama wanted no rescue. Hillary allowed them to die. All knew what was going on.

This is getting perverse. I couldn’t have written a fiction novel that could measure. Decades of decadence. This country is so screwed!
As I said earlier:
At Airliner speed it is 1 hour 14 minutes from Sig to Benghazi. AC-130 would be longer, a Fighter much less. Assuming there was a Ready alert , the could be up in less than an hour. Add the time ans we could have helped.
Whatever happened to the story of an ADM and a Gen being relieved for attempting to help? Some body ordered all these stand down, who?

There are some reasons why they didn’t fly there:
The core part of the Libyan op was MANPADS to “rebels”. This shadowed the intervention pattern when the Russians were in Afghanistan. There were something less than 22,000 MANPADS floating around North Africa, particularly in Bengazi —a clear shoot-down risk.
There was probably even some worry that the attack had been initiated specifically to cause the on-scene arrival of one or more large US transport/rescue aircraft into an AMBUSH, in a kind of “Blackhawk Down” imbroglio.
There’s the possibility that the plan was a prisoner swap gone bad, but a darker one is that higher-ups sensed the sensitivity of a compromised Large-Scale Smuggling Operation and simply hoped for a time that everyone in The Annex would be killed, thereby keeping it quiet.

We lived in the European theatre, and exactly where all these decisions are made. This testimony by General Boykin is true. We could have gotten planes there in plenty of time. Obama figures that most Americans are low information critters that just want to be told what to do. They believe anything as long as the free stuff keeps coming in. He forgets that of the rest of the nation, we have pretty much all had minimum one, and often many more family members to serve in the military. Or, we’ve served the military in some way. We are not all juveniles, even if it seems that all most live for is recreation. It was obvious from the get-go that there was SOME reason that these people were not rescued, and after watching this administration function (and I use that term loosely) the past 4 years, we are sure that what should have been done was not. The Obama admin. is VERY MUCH LIKE the Clintons’ in that they learned how to avoid responsibility, get around subpoenas, run out the clock on investigations by stalling and refusing to give any credible information, etc.
Personally, I’ve come to believe that Obama wanted Stevens kidnapped so he could exchange the blind sheik to get him back. But, instead of a kidnapping, it went wrong. To me, this makes the most sense, and you bet that the someone who had to give the order to stand down was THE ONE, himself. I pray that they finally find something that puts Obama’s lies in such an incredible light that even the left demand his resignation or impeachment.
This is getting ridiculous. Will this be a tipping point the Obama Media Group finally turns around?

I guess an Ambassador, an assistant, and two SEALS were not worth it but gun control is.
Probably not realistic, given Hollywood politics, but this entire event deserves a movie - possibly a keystone cops sorta thing, but serious since at the end people die.
I guess no matter what resources our government has, someone needs to make a decision for use and when that doesn’t happen, gather around the wagons and cover all butts all the way to the top.

1) Only the POTUS can authorize a CBA (cross border authority) command for a rescue mission in a foreign nation.
Plus Fact Two:
2) No rescue mission was attempted.
Equals Fact Three:
3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.
My question exactly. Who are they? Where are they? How have they been silenced?

That IS THE question! I’m not sure I heard anyone ask that question specifically and clearly.
Mark Levin was hot and heavy all over this tonight. He used slightly different terms, saying several times “Only the president can authorize a cross-border operation!”
Other phrases came straight from my column, a hat tip would be nice, but is not expected.
