Rather predictably, many of last Sunday's Super Bowl ads have been criticized for supposedly being racist.
On NBC's Tonight Show Tuesday, host Jay Leno marvelously asked, When will advertisers learn the only stereotype nobody gets mad at is white guys making fools of themselves over beer?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
You knew this was going to happen, Leno teased during his opening monologue. Complaints keep coming in about a lot of the Super Bowl commercials.
He continued, Some Arab-American groups claimed the Coke commercial - remember the one depicting a sheik walking his camel across the desert? They said that was anti-Arab. Another group said the Volkswagen commercial - remember, everybody speaking with a Jamaican accent? Oh, they said that was racist.
And the punch line?
When will advertisers learn the only stereotype nobody gets mad at is white guys making fools of themselves over beer? Okay? That's the only one. That is the only one you can do
Sadly, hes right.
It appears the only jokes that are safe in todays politically correct world are about white men.
But why should that surprise anyone?
For at least the last four years, Americas media have been blaming all the problems in society on white guys.
Why should commercials be any different?
I’ve said this for the longest time. It’s ok to make white people the buffoons in commercials. When there are blacks and whites in commercials, its the black people who are smart, make the right decisions, have it all together. The white person makes the wrong choice and looks like a fool. It’s because white people won’t complain about it. Blacks would feign racism.
research99 ~: “Women form the majority of the television viewing audience.
Appealing to the desires of the audience, is what sells entertainment.”
I think that is why women allow men to watch football.
The women come into the room for the PC advertizing that
humiliates men
...re-enforces their own superiority,
and then return to another room so they don’t have to watch the game.
At least , that is how it is in many households.
When someone claims offense at some non-PC statement or humor, my reply is “So what? Get over yourself.” When political correctness offends me I simply refuse to patronize or otherwise indulge the offender.
How many women on FR consider the man they married to be a doofus? Or even significantly less intelligent than themselves?

I am guessing that the answer is none. (My husband is brilliant, BTW.) But this junk is put together by leftists and appeals to leftists.
...Calvin Klein Concepts commercial for obvious reasons... hope no one saw it as anti-not in shape....
&&
I saw it only on the news, so I don’t know how much of the original I did not see. That said, it looked to me to be something that would appeal to homosexual men.
See tagline
Listen up white men, we are not in charge anymore, can the reactionary crap, we are the social critics now, and it is fun.
LOLOLMAO! Peanut butter & crackers spewing all over the damned place!! Dear God, that was funny! Best laugh I've had in weeks!!! Thanks.
When women as a group respond to an attack on their men as an attack on them as well, the nation will begin to heal itself.
It hasn’t yet, as any observer of any “family court” can tell you.
Leno has been sounding very “Republicany” the past few years.
i am positive a lot homosexual men were liking that commercial... i would say the demographic was those attracted to hot male bodies...
White guys have it easy, All they have to do is:

You left one out, i.e., Put up with being told by women how stupid/inept/insensitive they are.
I am a white woman, and I have been annoyed for about 2 decades with the way white men are portrayed in commercials. (I don’t waste my time on the sit-com garbage.) I have written letters to, made phone calls to, and sent emails to companies whose commercials demean men. Don’t know if I have had any effect, but, at least, I have spoken up.
You said it. I’m effing tired of being the butt of black no-talent comics making fun of white men. I’m sick and tired of appeasing, pussy comics (Leno) who put their frigging income (so they can spend millions in classic cars) above their contemporaries’ own image.
I am the bulwark of my family. I never once took entitlement money (EITC, EBT, SNAP et al) or unemployment checks. I always had a job (since I was 14)...I’ve paid my bills, tried to help my family and friends where I could and I tried to instill traditional American values into my children and grandchildren. I’m might damned tired of this liberalist bullshit.

You must have the bar set quite low.
That’s probably why I don’t like TV or its commercials. I’m not the way they think all women are.
The typical line is that hapless, fumbling, incompetent white male gets his bacon saved by a sharp, highly-intelligent well-dressed black man or woman. It's a formula and seemingly every ad agency uses that cliche for the commercials they produce for virtually any product or service (Allstate comes to mind for adhering to that worn formula).
I will give credit to Samsung and their agency for producing the ad linked here. The "Game On" spot breaks out of the box by showing what appears to be a white elderly woman calling a black man "whiny". When I first saw it a few months ago, I thought for sure that Sharpton, Jackson and the usual gang of idiots would protest until it was pulled.
Men have been chased from the TV, except for sports, because of the anti-Dad junk they spew. But, dear God, they dare not ever portray a woman the way they portray men!
If the sponsor offends me, I boycott!!
I don’t know about you but saying ALL black people are cool is about as accurate as saying ALL white people are ‘rich’
The only commercials that should be allowed to air are ones that are politically crrect, do not make fun of any person, place, thing, mammal, reptile, amoeba, anything....
This commercial should be a white background, name of product in black printed on the screen in 200 different languages and appear without change for the full 60 seconds......
