As an Ohioan and a conservative, I am in favor of Governor John Kasich's move to expand Medicaid. Kasich had opposed President Obama's healthcare reform law and many conservatives are up in arms over his proposal.

Kasich has shown himself to be a liar. I will do whatever it is that’s needed to throw him out of office.
So if the cause is worthy- in the eye’s of the beholder of course - then abandon conservationism.
You would be at odds with me if you lived in Michigan too.
Maybe you can convince Kasich to raise gas taxes too.
kasich is scared, plain and simple. obama has carried his state twice, he is up for reelection next year, and he only won with 49% of the vote last time.
You are right about Kasich running scared. Also, this article is short, whiney, poorly written.
Yahoo’s main criteria for conservative authors? Be liberal.
I don’t think she is a conservative. She is trying to make political points to save her a$$.
Give the states money now, take lots more away later.
Wow, you’ve found a way to blog pimp and pretend it’s from a news source that HAS to be excerpted. Kinda like the examiner blog, but dressed up as “Yahoo News.” Nicely played.

I’m at Odds with My Fellow Conservatives; I Support Kasich’s Move to Expand Medicaid

Only in your mind are you a Conservative.
Kasich is going to lose for sure the next time he runs. The libs wouldn’t vote for him ever, and the conservatives won’t vote for him now, either.
Way to go Romney, I mean Kasich.
Its funny how Republicans got whipped in National elections but been doing pretty good in many state elections so many here assume that at the state level they can do anything they want.
Both Ohio and VA are on the edge of Democrat takeovers. If so they get to redistrict the House seats for those states/
Don’t call yourself “conservative” if you want to expand government.
Sheesh.
Hey, here’s a novel idea.. how about CONSERVATIVE legislators at the federal and state levels pass a law where health insurance can be sold across state lines, the rates will drop because of competition and people will then be able to afford INSURANCE (which means it covers against extra-ordinary or catastrophic loss. (as opposed to “insurance” that pays for every little flu shot... does your car insurance pay for oil changes??!!)
The Republicans should have done this in Bush’s first term. Health INSURANCE would be affordable by now.
You miss the point. Kasich has two options:
A: try and persuade Ohioans to believe the right things.
B; pretend to belive the wrong things because he thinks most Ohioans believe the wrong things.
He chose B, which NEVER EVER WORKS for Republicans. Oh, it looks like it will, it is the easiest thing to do in the short term, but it never actaully works.
Rove is in favor of this kind of strategy,
State lines would be very helpful, but it would take a lot more than that to make it affordable. Mainly, allow more freedom and flexibility of both providers and customers.
Without TORT reform, insurance still wouldn’t be affordable. Maybe a bit lower, but not affordable.
I am not going to reply to everyone individually because most of you are saying the same thing. I am pro-life, against gay marriage and pro-gun. I am a Christian Conservative. Just because I have a heart, which many of you seem to be lacking, doesn’t mean I have abandoned my conservative values. Do you know what it’s like to live without health insurance - especially when you are working and paying into the system? To be told, “NO” you earn too much to qualify for medicaid? Probably not.
“I’m a life-long Republican, but.....”
