Sure, Chuck Hagel might have been a bumbling, stumbling mess at his confirmation hearing yesterday. But the real story was how awful were the Republicans who questioned him. That was the collective judgment of today's Morning Joe panel.
For example, so contemptuous was Joe Scarborough of Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, that the Morning Joe host announced that he would not even mention him by name. "Clown show" was the panel's operative phrase for the Republican performance. Andrea Mitchell, Mika Brzezinski, Mike Barnicle et al. joined in the Republican roasting.

Scarborough won’t even mention Ted Cruz by name, such is the contempt he has for him. Engine-starter ping to Today show list.
I know MSNBC does not have the largest audience but this same messaging will stretch across other networks, Internet reporting and other media. I just do not see how we succeed in this environment. The conservative movement is going to have to get very smart and very creative to overcome the media situation
ROTFLOLOLOL.
Senator TED CRUZ ROCKS!
Absolutely, “clown show” is the right term when applied to Andrea Mitchell, Mika Brzezinski, Mike Barnicle, and Scarborough!
I watched a lot of the hearings, and I am very proud of our new Texas Senator!
IMO, we have a real winner here!
The fact that the MSM is going after him in such a way, so soon after he has taken office, tells us a lot!
Republican kabuki theater.
After schmoozing Kerry into the SoS post, some Pubbie’s pretend to grow a spine and question Hagel?
Why didn’t Cruz “get tough” with the man who lied to congress about his fellow soldiers in Vietnam?
Is Scarborough really that anti-conservative?
At one time, while in congress, he voted conservative.
I can’t help but feel he has either been blackmailed, or his compensation is based on how savagely he attacks conservatives.
Scarborough sure ought to know what it takes to be seen as a clown.LOL.
I caught part of the Hagel hearing on CSPAN last night with McCain questioning him. Much of the time Hagel wouldn’t have known his own name, if asked. He forgot which side the US was on regarding Iran and regarding Israel.
Some talkshow host (Levin or Limbaugh) mentioned a couple of days ago that McCain and Hagel were BFFs in their early Senate careers. But, apparently, when Hagel endorsed Obama over McCain in 2008, the lovefest ended.
McCain was lobbing volleys non-stop at Hagel and Hagel’s responses were very lacking. Hagel seemed very unprepared, considering the responsibility of the post he is being considered for.
I detest Morning Joe and everything I hear about Ted Cruz makes me like him more. I voted for him for senator from Texas and will vote for him again.
yep - theater...
How they could possibly approve Kerry - He met with commies in paris during the war. He was still in the reserves at the time.
If that is not grounds for Senate rejection, what is?
(watch - hagel will get confirmed also.)
My opinion of Ted Cruz just went up yet again.
Very nice.

Start a weekly broadsheet in your town. Find a web press printer who will pound out a 12-page publication for $150 per thousand.
Hire little old ladies to attend local village meetings and write up stories about the local American Legion, school plays and flower shows. They’ll do that for $50 a month and love it.
Take away business advertisers from the local liberal rags to fund the operation.
As publisher, you’ll bring in $500 to $1,000 monthly profit.
Why don’t you get your facts straight before you attack Cruz? Senator Cruz is NOT on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and actually voted against Kerry.
Serious question: look at the way Hagel's lip droops in the photo below. Could it be a symptom of something?
Even dumb liberals know when one of their own is illiterate. Problem is, they can’t admit it so they blame the ones responsible for outing them.
