The phones are ringing off the wall.
If you've tried to get through to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), you know it's been tough. If you've wanted to express your concern about the BSA abandoning their longstanding policy of safeguarding Scouts by restricting openly homosexual Scout leaders from holding leadership positions, you may have been greeted by an endlessly ringing phone. This may be one instance in which the Boy Scouts were not prepared.
The BSA national leadership were not prepared for the thousands of Americans who were shocked to hear that an organization that could always be counted on for standing for what's right was about to cave-in to homosexual activists and corporations which have been threatening the organization's funding.
For generations, the BSA has shaped our nation's moral character by teaching young men to do their duty to God and country. This is why, when the BSA board begins its annual meeting on Monday of next week, it is so important that you keep the pressure on, to show them how devastating this moral collapse will be for the Scouts and the country.
Please call the members of the BSA Board of Directors (sample call script below) and kindly urge them to stand strong and true to their timeless values:

Hello, my name is _________, from __________.
Thank you for your service as a board member of the Boy Scouts of America.
As you're aware, a new proposal indicates that the Boy Scouts of America may revoke their longstanding policy of safeguarding Scouts by restricting homosexuals from holding leadership positions over boys. For decades, your national organization has kept the interest of the boys it serves as the focus of all its actions. No matter what, the Boy Scouts of America could be counted upon to do the right thing and not yield to any social pressure, and has thus far stood strong.
Please do not jeopardize the safety and moral integrity of Scouting in the interest of social activism. The proposal to relegate the decision on homosexual leaders to local chartered organizations sends the wrong signal from the national body: that political correctness ultimately triumphs over character.
Please retain the current long-held and time-tested policy regarding homosexual leadership and membership. America stands with you. Lead the way. Please stand strong.
Thank you, and God bless you.
Together, we can make a difference in turning the tide and keeping an honorable organization on an honorable path.
I’m calling them all right now. Does anyone have their e-mails?
I am a scoutmaster and feel betrayed by the BSA national. BSA has always been the high ground in morals and character and we are now witnessing the cesspool of society pulling it down to its level.

For more than 100 years, Scoutings focus has been on working together to deliver the nations foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. Scouting has always been in an ongoing dialogue with the Scouting family to determine what is in the best interest of the organization and the young people we serve.
Currently, the BSA is discussing potentially removing the national membership restriction regarding sexual orientation. This would mean there would no longer be any national policy regarding sexual orientation, and the chartered organizations that oversee and deliver Scouting would accept membership and select leaders consistent with each organizations mission, principles, or religious beliefs. BSA members and parents would be able to choose a local unit that best meets the needs of their families.
The policy change under discussion would allow the religious, civic, or educational organizations that oversee and deliver Scouting to determine how to address this issue. The Boy Scouts would not, under any circumstances, dictate a position to units, members, or parents. Under this proposed policy, the BSA would not require any chartered organization to act in ways inconsistent with that organizations mission, principles, or religious beliefs.

Divide and conquer. They are hanging the local chapters out to dry.
Whew! That was close. I just called them and told the the difference between right and wrong.
My comment on their FaceBook page:
If the proposed policy change is enacted by the National Board, they will have chosen to follow the money rather than the morals. Additionally, placing this burden on the local unit and its chartering organization will ultimately result in loss of units and membership. I urge the Board to choose carefully because it will be a decision that will mean whether Scouting will continue as a force for good or gradually fade away to “remember when” status.
I guess we should now start modifying the Scout Oath. Now the ‘morally clean’ is out the window. What’s next. There will be more sleeping under the stars since 2 man tents could be a problem.
Yeah, that's why I didn't call them. If they are waiting for a consensus as to what is right and wrong, then they are no longer leaders but followers.
One article mentioned that “wealthy donors” are pressuring BSA board members?
“”No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” Matt 6:24
Have these idiots taken any thought as to what their legal bills and settlements will be after the first two or three molestation lawsuits due to their new, inclusive homosexual scout leaders?
What about all the churches that drop their Scout troops after this change?
What about all the other donors who take the Scout oath seriously and then decide to stop supporting BSA?
Are they prepared for the gender discrimination lawsuits to follow?
Coed camping?
Idiots!
Do we know what corporate sponsors are pressuring them?
Call the BSA Board of Directors listed in the thread & tell them to uphold Scouting values!

They’re going for their Really Bad Decision belt-loop.
No offense to those who enjoy Scouts (we mostly did when our family was involved in Scouts), but there’s options.
Instead of Scouts... Have your family go on mission trips with your Church. Take your kids camping (with no freakin’ electronics!). Go out in the garage and show them how to use tools - build something. Make sure they’re involved in sports (any sport - no excuse). Turn off the TV and talk about values and why they’re important. Show them what it means to be a leader, to volunteer, to give.
There’s more obviously, and it doesn’t involve hitting up all your neighbors to buy popcorn!
Today I informed my pack, my local council, and the National BSA organization that both myself and my son will be resigning immediately from scouts if this policy is changed next week. As a current Den Leader and former Cub Master, I have given a great deal of my time, energy, and money to scouting. But I can’t take the risk that my son may attend BSA summer or winter camps, events, or properties where there is a reasonable chance that there are adult homosexual males as leaders. Just like Jerry Sandusky, Adult homosexual males are far more likely to be sexual predators of small boys and pedophiles.
I have written to both the local council and BSA, but it looks like after next week our family will no longer participate in scouting.
I'm writing concerning the upcoming national meeting where membership policies may be changed regarding sexual orientation.
I'll be brief - I am totally against allowing homosexual membership into the BSA. It's a terrible idea for so many reasons and it will destroy the financial resources, integrity, and most of all - the safety of the Boy Scouts.
I implore the leadership to reject changing the long standing and common sense policy of requiring membership at all levels to be "square" as we used to say when I was a Boy Scout many years ago.
If the policy is changed, I will no longer volunteer my time or allow my son to participate in the BSA and I will regretfully recommend that no boy or parent join the BSA due to an unsafe and unhealthy moral environment.
Respectfully
Apparently at least AT&T and Ernst & Young. Members of both organizations also sit on the BSA Board.
Ummmm.....
“would be able to choose a local unit”
And BSA means to give Boy “Scouting” a new meaning.
I was in Troop 200 with John Goodman, I would like to hear his opinion.
